Humasol VZW has designed some small-scale renewable energy facilities, including<br />

hydro-turbines, PV installations and wind turbines with a capacity of 2 to 5 kW and<br />

has installed them in several developing countries. To be able to maintain and<br />

expand these installations, there is quantitative feedback needed on top of the<br />

already available qualitative feedback from the communities.<br />

Summary<br />

In the framework of this master thesis a data logger was designed for measuring<br />

electric quantities (voltage, current, power factor, frequency, ...), ambient temperature<br />

and relative humidity, during least one year and for storing these data on an SD card<br />

in the form of CSV files. These data can then be read and analyzed in Excel or in the<br />

Java program REA (Renewable Energy Analyzer) that was written for this master<br />

thesis. The designed data logger is robust by working with standardized through-hole<br />

components and is provided with sufficient protections. He can store parameters of<br />

electric systems from 0 to 5.5 kW.<br />
