L’exposition et les conférences dresseront à la fois un historique sur les maquettes
d’architecture, dans leurs formes et dans leurs objectifs, et donneront un aperçu de
leur avenir. La maquette se trouve en effet dans une phase de transition depuis que
les nouvelles technologies utilisant la 3D ont permis de passer des dessins en deux
dimensions aux représentations en trois dimensions. Malgré tout, la maquette
conserve un rôle central dans la représentation de l’architecture, parmi les
représentations virtuelles et informatiques.

An evening lecture by Prof. Werner Oechslin (ETH Zurich) and Prof. Sabine Frommel
(EPHE Sorbonne, Paris) will accompany the opening event of the “Models and
Architecture” Exhibition of students´ and research works of several institutes of the
faculty for architecture of the Technische Universität München. The exhibition displays
the variety in working with models at the TUM, show various techniques of model
building and material as well as indicate the miscellaneous fields of models in
architecture.
Exhibits will originate from architecture visualisation, drafting and design methods,
research of new technical possibilities or building archaeology.
Currently, model building is being thoroughly revised, since modern three-dimensional
printers enabled stepping from plane representations to voluminous bodies by printing.
Nevertheless, models still hold a central position in architectural visualisation –
regardless all virtual representation methods.
