Models in mediaeval times
We will approach the question about mediaeval models from two points of view. Firstly,
Sabine Berger will deal with architectural models in their function as attributes of
statues in representing benefactors by asking the question about the truthfulness of the
image.
The second point of view, by Dany Sandron, will focus on the coherence between miniature
architecture and architectural models on the example of baldachins in the 13 th
and 14 th centuries.
The importance of the period at the turning from the 13 th to the 14 th century illustrates
the part three-dimensional models played in architecture during this epoch with the emphasis
of increasingly precise representations of monuments using models as media
and the conclusions and hypotheses being derived from.
