Interlaken
Point de ralliement de toute une aristocratie
voyageuse au début du 20e s., Interlaken a
gardé de cette Belle Epoque quelques palaces
aujourd’hui somptueusement restaurés.
Souvent britanniques, les pionniers du
tourisme de montagne venaient y prendre
les airs, impatients d’arpenter les Alpes.
Aujourd’hui, c’est du monde entier que les

Brienz, attirés par l’emblématique massif de
la Jungfrau, dominant le site. Effectuée par
le rail, l’ascension vers la plus haute gare
d’Europe conserve un parfum aventureux,
comme celle qui emmène les nostalgiques
de la traction à vapeur au-dessus de Brienz,
vers le Rothorn…une expérience inoubliable
avant de retrouver le charme unique des
rives lacustres ou le célèbre musée de plein
air du Ballenberg, exposant de manière vivante
l’architecture rurale helvétique.

Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts hat sich Interlaken
bis heute einige prunkvoll restaurierte
Luxushotels der „Belle Epoque“ erhalten.
Es war der Ausgangspunkt der meist
aus England stammenden Bergpioniere
– in Vorfreude auf ihre alpinistischen Abenteuer.
Heute treffen sich hier zwischen dem
Thuner- und Brienzersee Besucher aus der
ganzen Welt. Das weltberühmte Dreigestirn
Eiger-Mönch-Jungfrau übt eine unwiderstehliche
Anziehungskraft aus, wobei die
Bahnfahrt aufs Jungfraujoch, dem höchsten
Bahnhof Europas, ebenso eindrücklich
ist wie die mit dem Dampfzug von Brienz
aufs Rothorn. Unvergesslich bleibt auch
ein Besuch des Freilichtmuseum Ballenberg
(für ländliche schweizerische Architektur)
und eine romantische Schifffahrt auf
dem Brienzer- und Thunersee.

during the early 20th century, Interlaken
has preserved a few palaces from the
Belle Epoque era which have now been sumptuously
restored. The pioneers of mountain
tourism who were often British, came to take
the air and were impatient to discover the Alps.
Nowadays, visitors from throughout the world

lakes, attracted by the legendary massif of the
Jungfrau which dominates the area. The ascent
by train towards the highest railway station in
Europe still has a touch of adventure, as does
the line which takes those nostalgic for steam
traction above Brienz towards the Rothorn.
They provide an unforgettable experience
before you return to the unique charm of the
lakeside or to the famous open air museum at
Ballenberg which shows Swiss rural architecture
in a very realistic setting.
