2. Tea Break
Situated near the beautiful canal in Dublin’s Portobello area, the “Wall
and Keogh”, an organic tea house, is located in a beautiful old 19
century building.
Upon entering, you are greeted by the heady aroma of over 150 varieties
of organic loose leaf teas from which to choose, all in glass
Jars, so that you can see and smell your tea before picking the one
that appeals the most.
The décor is very funky, comfortable, urban and relaxed, and the inhouse
record player spins records from Billie Holiday to Sebastien
Tellier. The super welcoming staff even encourages customers to
bring their own records to play as well!
There is a garden area furnished with two old beds for the ultimate in
relaxation, and the downstairs feels like a New York apartment from
the late 70s. There is even a guitar for the customers to use.
They offer simple but quality Sandwiches and fresh Sushi plus Muffins
and Cakes to compliment your choice of tea.
One very charming and unusual touch is that this tea-shop offers the
“cup touch”, and we just fell in love with it. What is the “cup-touch”
you might ask? Simply, the “cup” is matched to your tea of choice. Did
you choose a Darjeeling? It will be served in a silver Timbale. Did you
choose a green Japanese tea? It will be served in a raku pot!
Tea from all over the world served in its natural container.
Local manners in a global world!
