* Washington events and tours, including special presentations at the SupremeCourt, Department of Justice, Library of Congress, and the U.S. Capitol;* Dinner hosted by the Kuwait Ambassador at his Embassy;* Formal awards banquet;* Publication of writing in a book presented to the Library of Congress.* National finalist trophy.National and Texas FinalistsNational and Texas finalists are awarded the following:* Expense-paid trip for 3 days to Austin, Texas, for student, one parent, andteacher;* Austin events and tours, including a leadership workshop, special presentationsat the Texas Capitol, and a tour of the Bob Bullock Museum.* Publication of their writing in a Texas Do the Write Thing Book* A formal recognition dinner.Parent InvolvementAs a parent, you have an important role in your child's academic and life success.Do the Write Thing supports parental involvement by requiring written permissionindicating your consent to your child's participation in this project. By signing theattached form, you agree to talk to your child about violence, bullying, and discusspossible solutions. If your child is chosen as a district semi-finalist, you must alsoagree to attend the Leadership Workshop and the Celebration Banquet. If yourchild is chosen as a state or national finalist, one parent must agree to attend theAustin and Washington celebrations.The deadline for student entries is December 6, 2012. A parent permissionform must accompany each entry.If you have any questions, please ask your student's teacher or contact the districtliaison.
