SUMMARYUrinary tract infection is a common situation in pediatric practice. Gather thebacteriological criteria that define, and clarify the topographical diagnosis, are twoessential steps to characterize acute pyelonephritis.In order to estimate the position of the urinary tract infection in the pathologyinfection in infants and for better policy management, we have carried out thisstudy.This work concerns a retrospective study of 118 infants, suffering from acutepyelonephritis, collected in the pediatric department at the University Hospital of Fezduring the period from January 2006 to December 2009.Through this series, we have identified the following characteristics:The hospital incidence was 2.95%. The average age in our series was 11 ± 7months, ranging from 30 days to 24 months. 60% of our patients are aged less thanone year. Boys are more affected than girls with a sex ratio of 1.22; the male is veryclear before the age of three months with a sex ratio of 3.75.18% of patients had histories of urinary infections; the average time ofrecurrence was 3 months.The main reason for hospitalization is fever. The clinical symptoms are feveralso dominated (91%) by digestive symptoms (53%), refusal to suck (17%), neurologicsigns (15%) and respiratory signs (13%). Urinary symptoms are not expressed afterthe age of 18 months.153
