I.3.1.2Description of the DisplaySECTION I: USERIf the unit's infrared rec eiver is exposed t o direc t sunlight or strongartificial light, or if a fluorescent lamp with electronic switc h is pl acednearby, t he unit c ould be subject to operating anomalies or may notwor k at all.The us e of other remote controls in the vicinit y or in the same room asthe unit c oul d af fect its operation. Do not poi nt other remote controltransmit ters at t he unit rec ei ver.I.3.2 SETTING THE CLOCKWhen you place the batt eries in the remot e control, t he cloc k indicat ordisplays a flas hing 00:00.Note: when set ting the cloc k do not point the remot e control at t he unit.We rec ommend adjusting t he cl oc k on t he remote c ontr ol beforestarting the unit. To adjust it, proc eed as follows:1) Transmission indicatorAppears whenever a signal is transmitt ed to the int ernal unit.2) Operating mod e disp lay (MODE)Indicates the selected mode.3) ON/OFF displayIndicates t hat the unit is i n operati on.4) Temper ature di splay (TEMP)Indicates t he set temperat ure (from 17 °C t o 30 °C). When t he FANoperating mode is selec ted, no t emper ature is displayed.5) Clock di splayAlways acti ve. I ndicat es t he c urrent time.6) Timer display (TIMER ON)If you press the TIMER ON key, t he timer on time is dis played.7) Timer display (TIMER OFF)If you press the TIMER OFF key, t he timer off time is dis played.8) Lock di splayIndicates that the remote c ontr ol is loc ked.9) ECONOMIC displayIndicates that the ECONOMIC RUNNING function is active (thisfuncti on is not available i n <strong>VTNC</strong> units).10) Fan speed displ ay (F AN)Indicates t he select ed fan speed. I t may be displayed as AUTO or oneof t he t hree speeds : MINIMUM (LOW), MEDIUM (MED), MAXIMUM(HIGH).I.3.1.3 Using the Remote ControlThe remot e c ontrol uses two 1.5 V, R 03 t ype AAA batt eries (provided).To insert the batteries , remove the c over compl etel y from the remotecontrol by sliding it downwards . I nsert t he batteries i n t he rel ati vehousi ng, making sure you r espec t t he polarities i ndicated. Replace thecover and s elect the desired func tions . Follow t he s ame st eps whenreplacing flat batteries wit h new batt eries. O n average t he bat teries las tfor around one year.press the TIME ADJU ST ke y untilthe desired time is displayedpress OK to confirm the set time (donot point t he remote c ontrol at theunit)To adj ust t he time again or t o repr ogramme proceed as f ollows :I.3.3press the CLOCK key for over thr eesecondspress the TIME ADJU ST ke y untilthe desired time is displayedpress OK to confirm the set time (donot point t he remote c ontrol at theunit)SWITCHING THE UNI T ON AND OFFPress the ON/OFF key to switch the unit on or off.When switching from ON to OFF the oper ating mode is int errupt ed andcurrent ti me del ays are canc elled, while the applianc e and fan operatingmodes and the s et t emperature value are memorised.When switching from OFF to ON, t he mac hine automaticall y rest ores allthe operating modes memorised before it was switc hed off.When t he unit is on, t he unit on s ymbol appears on thedisplay.The pr esenc e of t his s ymbol on the displ ay indicatesthat the remot e control is tr ans mitting t he s ettings t othe unit.The remot e c ontrol display is always on.Remove t he bat teries fr om the remot e control if you expect not to use itfor a long period of ti me.The remot e c ontrol display always s hows t he time, whether the unit ison or off .Point the remote control towards the unit recei ver when setting thevarious f uncti ons (exc ept when s etting t he cloc k).If the signals are received correctly, the unit will emit a "beep" .The remot e c ontrol is able to trans mit up to a dist anc e of around 8metres from the rec ei ver.Do not expos e the remote c ontr ol to excessi ve damp, direct sunlight orother heat s ources, and do not subject it to knoc ks . Prot ect the remot econtrol fr om water and ot her liquids.31
