OEM solutions forAluminium brazingWith more than 100 years of experience in brazing technologies it’s natural that we are taking alead in the trend to Al brazing.The use of aluminium has been increasingfor more than 20 years.More and more product designersand manufactures are interestedin developing even more productsusing varies types of aluminium. Forthe last 3 decades the most commonbrazing alloy used for joining aluminiumparts was the AlSi12. Thisalloy has a eutectic composition andallows aluminium to be joined atabout 580°C (recommended brazingtemperature is 593°C). 580°C hasbeen sufficient in the last few decades,but in recent years, the use ofhigh strength aluminium alloys hasbeen increasing. Those alloys usuallyemploy other metals such as Mg, Si,Zn or Cu and have higher strengthsand improved characteristics for individualapplications. However theyalso have much lower melting temperaturesthan standard aluminiumalloys with many 6000 and 7000series alloys now melting at a littleabove 600°C, and standard brazingprocesses with AlSi12 are becomingvery difficult if not even impossibleWide brazing product range for OEM manufacturerto carry out. In addition, there are severalaluminium alloys that rapidlylose there strength and hardness asthey are heated. They can not be joinedwith AlSi12 alloys and maintaintheir original characteristics whichlimits their use in several industries.As most brazing alloys in the markethave too high temperatures, Castolinhas designed a complete productrange in order to satisfy all its customers’requirement in terms of aluminiumas well as aluminium-copperjoining.
