BOBBIN WOUND SAND FILTERS3.1.3 Manometers. If you have bought the battery with the filter, manometersare completely installed. On pool filters, when the filter is clean, the usual pressuresare:-Inlet pressure: 0.8-1 Kg/cm 2-Outlet pressure: 0.4-0.6 Kg/cm 2When the differential pressure between the twomanometers is 1 Kg/cm 2 or higher, backwash must becarried out.NOTE: Once the manometers have been installed, youshould cut the two little caps that are placed in the backsideof the panel. These caps have been put there to avoid the spilling of themanometer’s glycerin.3.1.4-Battery installation.Once the battery is perfectly lined-up, it isnecessary to install special supports tohold up the weight of the battery and thewater that follows in it.When the proper level and height havebeen achieved, the screw that supports theclamp must be tightened using a spanner. In order to avoid that pulses and vibrationscould damage or break the batteries whenthe tubes are being installed, other kind ofsupports are also available.IMPORTANT NOTE:Avoid the fixing system that blocks thenormal dilation of materials. If you have any doubt, please contact ourtechnical department.4-STARTING.Before filling filters sand or other filtrationelements, it is advisable to check the internal collectors tomake sure that they have not been damaged duringtransport or installation. Afterwards, fill the filters and thewater installation and make an hydraulic test. Thus, you willmake sure that there is no leak and that equipment worksproperly. Then stop the pumps, open each filter’s lid (the filter must nobe emptied without opening the lid, as it could collapse) andempty half the water that each filters contains. Then, start filling the filter with sand or other filtrationelements, taking into account that first of all you must putgravel up to the collector arms (10 cm. Aprox). This must be done very carefully in order to avoid anydamage in the lower components of the filter. When the filteris being filled with sand, this must be carefully spread overthe surface.Once the filter is full with the filtration elements clean the lidand the inner part of the manhole. This will prevent anydebris and particles of sand affecting the seal of the joint.FIG. 10Nº DESCRIPCIÓN1 Seal2 Wheel3 Bridge4 Lever5 Ball valve Ø1"6 LidPut the seal in the lid; then introduce the lid in the manhole, leaving it leveled and centred. The lid must be supported bythe handle, as this will avoid that it could fall into the tankand damage any of its parts.Put the bridge in the indicated position and tightenmanually the wheel. To achieve a proper seal, you do not have to tightenexcessively the lid. The pressure itself will do it.FIG. 11 FIG. 12When the filter is under pressure, it is normal that wheeland bridge remain separated. You must not tighten thewheel again when the filter is under pressure, becausewhen the pumps stop, the lid could be damaged or blocked.Once the filter has been completely filled with water, startthe performance of installation, venting manually toeliminate all the air that could be inside the filter, as the airmakes the filter performance difficult. If a vacuum appears in the filters, it is necessary to installdouble effect suction valves; these will also act asautomatic air purifiers and would avoid that the tank couldcollapse.10
