IDS Scheer has now joined forces with the Future Store Initiative and will
be bringing its process controlling software ARIS PPM to the partnership.
This powerful tool will be used to analyze the movement of goods along the
supply chain and map their different positions en route to the supermarket.
The project will initially focus on the movement of goods between the transshipment
center in Hong Kong and the METRO Group distribution center in
Unna near Dortmund, Germany. The project will then be gradually
expanded to include the goods warehouse in Neuss, the distribution center
in Essen and finally the Future Store in Rheinberg.
What's particularly interesting is that the analysis will break new ground by
linking up technical business processes with the actual flow of goods. ARIS
PPM will compare these aspects in terms of quantities and throughput
times and then clearly highlight any sticking points in the supply chain.
"ARIS PPM will enable us to record movement of goods headed for the
Future Store almost in real-time and to display this movement in a
transparent format," explains Dr. Gerd Wolfram, Managing Director of MGI

options offered by the software will help us to identify weaknesses more
quickly when introducing new RFID technologies."
