Following 30 years of political struggles, Ariel Sharon, the Sabra, and man of all the wars of Israel, was elected
Prime Minister on February 6th, 2001. After his strong-armed management of the al-Aqsa Intifada, and a trial
of strength with Yasser Arafat, the very «hawk» who created the Likud Party became the wrecker of the Gaza
settlements in 2005, and the centrist who created Kadima, the government coalition party still currently in
power.
Among all the actors in the Arab-Israeli conflict, Ariel Sharon has always aroused the strongest feelings of
admiration or hatred. Who really is Sharon Is he the «butcher» of Sabra and Chatila Is he the hero of the
Yom Kippur War Is he an ideologist or a pragmatist The real man and our perceptions of him are too often
ill-known or not fully understood.
Via chronological retracing of his rule as Prime Minister up to his stroke on January 4th, 2006, a series
of flashbacks outline the unexpected character of the man and his politics, as well as the - sometimes
disconcerting - decisions he made as head of state. Using previously unaired archives and rare interviews
(including with Ehud Olmert, Colin Powell, Joschka Fischer, Antoine Sfeir, Alexander Haig, Dennis Ross,
Hubert Védrine and Leïla Shahid) tracing the determining episodes of his life, «Ariel Sharon’s Final Combat»
portrays the light and shade, the wounds and secret passions of this man whose life is intermingled with
half a century of Israeli history.

parfois déconcertantes qu’il prend en tant que chef d’Etat, un personnage inattendu.
A travers des archives inédites et des témoignages rares parcourant les épisodes fondateurs de sa
vie, le documentaire nous dévoile les ombres et les lumières, les blessures et les passions secrètes
de cet homme dont la vie se confond avec un demi-siècle d’histoire d’Israël.
