De l’année Internationale de la Fibre Naturelle à l’année Internationale<br />
de la Biodiversité par les Nations Unies, un passage de relais très naturel<br />
pour le <strong>lin</strong> et le <strong>chanvre</strong> européens, acteurs majeurs et agro-ressources<br />
stars <strong>du</strong> patrimoine européen.<br />
Au <strong>fil</strong> de ces pages, vous découvrirez leur potentiel visionnaire dans<br />
des domaines très différents qui s’émancipent de leurs applications<br />
traditionnelles. D’innovations textiles, avec un <strong>lin</strong> seconde peau, en<br />
innovations in<strong>du</strong>strielles, dans le secteur de l’automobile, en passant par<br />
les mains d’artistes de l’épure, le <strong>lin</strong> et le <strong>chanvre</strong> tissent des liens ténus<br />
avec demain. Ce qui ne les empêche pas de revenir aux sources <strong>du</strong><br />
design scandinave porteur d’inspiration pour les designers d’aujourd’hui.<br />

Technique initié par la CELC, soutenu désormais par un réseau<br />
d’experts internationaux, le Comité Scientifique Européen.<br />
<strong>Le</strong> <strong>lin</strong> et le <strong>chanvre</strong> s’engagent sur la route <strong>du</strong> progrès technologique<br />
avec l’ambition de devenir des acteurs majeurs des prochaines<br />
décennies en termes d’éco-développement.<br />

Moving from the International Year <strong>of</strong> Natural Fibers to the<br />
International Year <strong>of</strong> Biodiversity decreed by the United Nations<br />
is a natural passage for European <strong>lin</strong>en and hemp, key players and<br />
agro-resource stars with a European heritage.<br />
Throughout these pages, you will discover their visionary potential<br />
in very different areas which emancipate them from their traditional<br />
uses. From textile developments with second skin <strong>lin</strong>en to in<strong>du</strong>strial<br />
innovations in the automotive in<strong>du</strong>stry in passing by the pure<br />
approaches <strong>of</strong> artists, <strong>lin</strong>en and hemp weave <strong>lin</strong>ks to tomorrow. This<br />
does not prevent them from returning to the sources <strong>of</strong> Scandinavian<br />
design and the creations which inspire today’s designers.<br />

This is also a pivotal year, with the reinforcement <strong>of</strong> the Technical<br />
Pole initiated by the CELC, now supported by a network <strong>of</strong> international<br />
experts, the European Scientific Committee.<br />
<strong>Linen</strong> and hemp are commit travelers on the road to technological<br />
progress with an ambition to become key players for the coming decades<br />
in terms <strong>of</strong> eco-development.<br />
