Les protagonistes sont assis autour d’un feu, ils reviennent d’une manifestation “a<br />
protest”, un homme dans une chaise roulante se lève et brûle une pancarte<br />
manuscrite “save yourself”. Les personnages sont dans une interaction physique<br />
par la présence de leur corps, mais isolés mentalement. Les regards, le placement,<br />
les attitudes des acteurs se construisent autour d’un repli intérieur. FR<br />
The protagonists sat around a fire, they return from a demonstration "a protest",<br />
a man in a wheelchair rises and burns a handwritten sign "save yourself". The<br />
characters are in a physical interaction by the presence of their body, but isolated<br />
mentally. The glances, the placement, the attitudes of the actors are built<br />

C’est par hasard que j’ai vu sept garçons derrière ma fenêtre à Glasgow mais ce<br />
n’est pas un hasard que je les ai transformés en The Captains (7 est le chiffre le<br />
plus magique et le plus mystique qui soit, autant que je sache). J’ai d’abord pensé<br />
qu’ils pourraient être des chevaliers (de la table ronde). Après avoir pensé aux<br />
chevaliers, pour une raison ou pour une autre, je me suis rappelé de Moby Dick,<br />
de l’atmosphère mythique de ce livre que j’adore, et de sa façon d’écrire qui<br />
donne la sensation de flotter et aussi de la relation entre les hommes à bord et<br />
entre les hommes et la mer. Tout cela est très grandiose; j’ai pensé que ce serait<br />
bien, si possible, de conférer à ces garçons un peu de cette grandeur, et d’avoir<br />
sept capitaines au lieu d’un seul. MN<br />
It was by chance that I saw 7 boys outside my window in Glasgow but not by<br />
chance that I made them and their number into The Captains (7 the most magic<br />
and symbolic of numbers as far as I know). At first I thought they could be<br />
knights (of the round table). After thinking about knights, for some reason I<br />
thought back to Moby Dick, and the mystical atmosphere of that book which I<br />
love, and the sensation with his use of language that you are indeed floating,<br />
also the relations between the men on board and between the men and the<br />
sea. It’s all quite grandiose, I thought it would be nice to give these boys some<br />
grandiosity if possible, so lets not have one captain but seven. MN<br />
