Cette vidéo a été réalisée avec un étudiant de l’ERSEP (École des<br />
Beaux Arts) à Tourcoing durant une résidence d’artiste, dans une<br />
distillerie en Écosse, organisée par artconnexion et la marque<br />
Glenfiddich pour leur galerie à Dufftown. Elle exprime ce que nous<br />
avons vécu pendant la résidence : les barrières du langage, le tourisme<br />
autour de la distillerie, l’environnement et les valeurs de la marque<br />
Glenfiddich. La vidéo reprend l’imagerie des cours d’Anglais accélérés<br />
et nous incarnons les acteurs de ces leçons. CW<br />
This video was made with a student from the ERSEP, Fine art<br />
school in Tourcoing, during an artists' residency in a distillery in<br />
Scotland organised by artconnexion and the brand Glenfiddich<br />
for their gallery in Dufftown. It shows what we experienced<br />
during the residency: the barriers of language, the tourism<br />
around the distillery, the environment and the values of the<br />
Glenfiddich brand. The video presents an intensive English<br />
course and we personify the actors of these lessons. CW<br />

Ce film investit les collines d’Hollywood. Les plans successifs excèdent<br />
le mode de la parodie. La productrice et le réalisateur monologuent en<br />
proie à leurs fantasmes, se rencontrent pour un brainstorming et se<br />
délitent dans leur agitation. Un scénario tourné en quelques plans fixes.<br />
Les films de Michelle Naismith sont qualifiés de baroques. Cette notion<br />
est pour elle davantage liée à une approche qu’à un style. Ainsi I see<br />
the face relève encore du baroque dans sa construction : retournement<br />
du film sur lui-même, dialogue frisant l’incohérence et toujours ce sautillement<br />
entre la musique, les personnages et les paysages. MG<br />
This film takes place in the Hollywood hills. The successive shots go<br />
far beyond the parody mode. The producer and the director entertain<br />
a monologue tortured by their fantaisies, then meet up for a brainstorming<br />
and get sidetracked in their agitation. A scenario filmed in<br />
a few still shots. Michelle Naismith’s films are qualified as baroque.<br />
For her, this notion is more an approach than a style. Therefore I see<br />
the face is still based on the baroque in its construction: the way the<br />
film turns on itself, the almost incoherent dialogue, and always these<br />
gaps between the music, the characters and the landscape. MG<br />
