American society, behind the sometimes idyllic perception that young people can have of it,
let us take a critical and contrasting look at a certain image of American culture. NL

J’ai regardé et capturé les dialogues de trois feuilletons américains (Les feux de l’Amour, Amour,
gloire et beauté et Des jours et des vies) pendant une semaine. J’ai sélectionné les disputes les plus
virulentes et je n’ai retenu que les dialogues féminins afin d’en faire un monologue où je ne
serai jamais contrariée par les contre-attaques de Jack, Victor ou Stefano. J’ai rejoué les dialogues
des héroïnes avec une autre intensité, celle que je voulais donner à mes disputes.
L’utilisation de ce langage, une traduction simple et efficace de l’Américain, un Français bis
hors contexte, donne à cette dispute le côté burlesque que je recherche dans mon travail. CW
I watched and recorded the dialogues of three American serials (The Young and the Restless,
The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives) for a week. I selected the most intense arguments
and only kept the female dialogues to turn them into a monologue where I would never
be vexed by the counter-attacks of Jack, Victor or Stefano. I play out the dialogues of the
heroines with another intensity, that which I wanted to give to my arguments. The use of this
language, a simple and efficient translation of the American, French out of context, gives this
argument the burlesque side that I am looking for in my work. CW
