WASHI NOTON, 13 mars (AFP) - Oh53 - Les Etats-Unis ont très modérément critiqué, pour le "principe", l'interdiction jeudi du principal parti
kurde de Turquie, le Hadep, par la Cour constitutionnelle turque. .
"Par principe, les Etats-Unis considèrent que la fermeture d'un parti loyal envers les principes et les pratiques démocratiques est contraire aux
normes internationales en matière de démocratie", a déclaré une porte-parole du département d'Etat, Brenda Greenberg, sans mentionner
directement ce parti. '
"Nous ne sommes pas en mesure de faire une évaluation des motivations légales de cette affaire", a-t-elle affirmé, en ajoutant que Washington
"ne soutient ni ne s'oppose à aucun parti turc" et "n'intervient pas dans les processus intérieurs, politiques ou judiciaires", de ce pays.
" L'interdiction par la Cour constitutionnelle, au terme d'une longue procédure judiciaire, du Parti de la Démocratie du peuple (Hadep)
intervient à un moment où les tensions s'accroissent dans le sud-est anatolien en raison des rumeurs de guerre contre l'Irak voisin.
Elle risque par ailleurs d'être mal accueillie par les autorités européennes qui reprochent à Ankara des manquements à la démocratie alors que
le pays est candidat à l'Union européenne (UE).
Les Etats-Unis tentent actuellement d'obtenir de la Turquie l'autorisation de déployer quelque 60.000 hommes pour ouvrir un front nord
contre l'Irak dans la perspective d'un conflit avec Bagdad .
. Le parlement a rejeté une première motion sur ce sujet, le 1er mars dernier, mais pourrait être amené à revoir sa position. Washington est prêt
à apporter une aide économique spéciale de 6 milliards de dollars à Ankara si ce déploiement est accepté.
Terrorist Turkmen group arrested in South Kurdistan

London: A terrorist group of the pro-Turkish the Turkmen Front Party were arrested in Hawler on the 12th of
February, a Kurdistan Regional Government spokesman announced, reported Kerkuk-kurdistan.com.
The terrorist group were members of the Turkmen Front, led by Abdulamir Izzet. The Turkmen Front does not
have a party license in South Kurdistan and refuses to recognize the Kurdistan Regional Government.
The terrorist group were armed with variedweapons. The Turkmen group refuses to hand over its military arsenal
to the Kurdistan Regional Government. . .
Observes believe that Turkey supportsopportunist people in South Kurdistan to keep its influence iri the region.
Turkish expansionist attitude undermines the stability of the region. The Turkish aim is to inflate the existence of
the Turkmens in the region and look for a scenario similar to that of Cyprus, forgetting that after nearly three
decades of occupation, Turkey is loosing Cyprus and the Turkish community in Northern Cyprus passionately
desire a unification with the south to enter the european Union.

Iraqi Turkmen leader warns Kurds
Arbil, Iraq - An ethnic Turkmen leader in northern Iraq has warned the main Kurdish faction here that its drive
towards federalism could ignite a civil war, and threatened to call in Turkish military support if the Kurds seek
to grab key cities in the event of a US-led invasion.
The president of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, Sanan Ahmet Aga, alsoaccused the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)
of conducting a campaign of political intimidation against his minority, saying Ankara must be quick to protect
follow Turks when war breaks out. "If there is any attack on Iraq, it is natural for Turkish soldiers to be here," he
said, before adding: "The Kurds should be very careful not to provoke US in a way that leads US to call in the help
of other countries."
Ethnic Turkmen groups here have often been accused by the KDP of being a fifth column for their powerful northern
neighbour.
