Security forces deal
big blow to the PKK
• Security forces are continuing to mop up in
operations against the outlawed Kurdistan
Workers' Party (PKK) near the southeastern
town of Srrnak. On the weekend, 42 PKK
rebels were killed just meters from the Iraqi
border, the Anatolia news agency reported.
During the operation, code-named ATAK-3,
security forces seized anti-aircraft guns, huge
amounts of ammunition, rifles, mortar shells
and illegal documents in eight caves used by
the PKK as dumps. Along with the military
equipment, sec.urity forces als.o.seized a bell, a
WIre mobile bndge, two televIsion sets, a
school desk, a sledgehammer, cotton, batteries,
a water pump, six mules,. 200 sh~Pt footballs.
