Security forces <strong>de</strong>al<br />
big blow to the PKK<br />
• Security forces are continuing to mop up in<br />
operations against the outlawed Kurdistan<br />
Workers' Party (PKK) near the southeastern<br />
town of Srrnak. On the weekend, 42 PKK<br />
rebels were killed just m<strong>et</strong>ers from the Iraqi<br />
bor<strong>de</strong>r, the Anatolia news agency reported.<br />
During the operation, co<strong>de</strong>-named ATAK-3,<br />
security forces seized anti-aircraft guns, huge<br />
amounts of ammunition, rifles, mortar shells<br />
and illegal documents in eight caves used by<br />
the PKK as dumps. Along with the military<br />
equipment, sec.urity forces als.o.seized a bell, a<br />
WIre mobile bndge, two televIsion s<strong>et</strong>s, a<br />
school <strong>de</strong>sk, a sledgehammer, cotton, batteries,<br />
a water pump, six mules,. 200 sh~Pt footballs.<br />
