AMMAN, Jordan (AP) -- An exile Iraqi dissi<strong>de</strong>nt group<br />

said Wednesday that it has uncovered several<br />

assassination attempts against its members by security<br />

agents of Sadd am Hussein's government.<br />

Maath Abdul-Rahim, of the Iraqi National Accord, saiq<br />

Italian police had arrested an Iraqi intelligence officer<br />

who had plotted to kill him.<br />

A statement issued Tuesday in London said the<br />

group's secr<strong>et</strong>ary general, Eyad Allawi, was also the<br />

targ<strong>et</strong> of an assassination attempt three months ago. It .<br />

did not elaborate.<br />

"There were also attempts to liquidate other members.<br />

of the group and its cadres in Jordan," the statement .<br />

said.<br />

Iraqi intelligence officers also planned to blow up and<br />

kill members of the group at their headquarters in<br />

Kurdish areas in northern Iraq, it said.<br />

The group said two Iraqi intelligence officers, whom it<br />

i<strong>de</strong>ntified as Mohammed Oreibi and Salem Fahd, were<br />

to carry out the plots.<br />
