régler ce problème en quelques mois", car "c'est un problème<br />

bilatéral".<br />

"La Turquie réclame un dialogue sincère <strong>et</strong> est prête à faire les<br />

initiatives nécessaires" pour un règlement <strong>de</strong>s différends<br />

turco-grecs, a ajouté Mme Ciller sans autre précision. "Nous ne<br />

minimisons pas, mais n'exagérons pas non plus" le sens <strong>de</strong> la<br />

prise <strong>de</strong> position grecque à Apeldoorn en faveur <strong>de</strong> la Turquie, a<br />

indiqué Mme Ciller.<br />

"Jedis, en confirmant les propos <strong>de</strong> M. Kinkel, que quand je vais<br />

en Europe, j'y vais avec la tête haute", a déclaré le ministre turc<br />

en réaction aux propos <strong>de</strong> son homologue.<br />

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Germany's foreign minister<br />

proposed enhanced partnership for Turkey with the<br />

European Union on Wednesday but ruled out making<br />

Turkey a member in the near future.<br />

The minister, Klaus Kinkel; said the EU had to increase<br />

its political dialogue and its economic relationship<br />

with Turkey.<br />

"Turkey is part of Europe," Kinkel told reporters. "It<br />

must continue on the European track. There is no<br />

question of it being pushed asi<strong>de</strong>."<br />

Turkey is an associate member of the EU and has<br />

applied for full membership.<br />

But Kinkel pointed out several problems blocking full<br />

membership including Turkey's weak economy, its<br />

poor human rights record, its ongoing battle with<br />

Kurdish separatists and its disputes with EU member<br />

Greece.<br />

Last month, European Christian Democrat lea<strong>de</strong>rs,<br />

including German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, angered<br />
