Amnesty International has no new information on the<br />

fate of Faraj Sarkouhi, but remains extremely concerned<br />

for his saf<strong>et</strong>y. The organization believes that he may<br />

still be in <strong>de</strong>tention and at risk of being sentenced to<br />

<strong>de</strong>ath.<br />

At the close of this action, campaigning on behalf of<br />

Faraj Sarkouhi will continue by other means.<br />

FURTHER RECOMMENDED ACTION: Please send one<br />

more round of appeals in French, English or in your own<br />

language:<br />

- urgently requesting clarification of the whereabouts<br />

and legal status of Faraj Sarkouhi;<br />

- calling for his immediate and unconditional release<br />

unless he is to be charged with a recognizable criminal<br />

offence;<br />

- urging that, should Faraj Sarkouhi be convicted of a<br />

crime, the <strong>de</strong>ath penalty not be applied;<br />

- seeking assurances that if Faraj Sarkouhi remains in<br />

<strong>de</strong>tention he will be humanely treated and granted<br />

regular access to his family and to doctors and lawyers<br />

of his choice.<br />
