Recent reports received by the International Secretariat of OMCT indicate that the following lawyers
and human rights defenders Riad TURK. Abdallah QABARA and Naif AI-HAMOUI are still
imprisoned in Syria.
Brief reminder of the situation:
In our appeal SYR 210193 of 21 st JanU3l}' 1993 circulated at the request of Antenna International and
the CDF (Committee for the Defence of Democratic Freedoms and Human rights in Syria, members of
the network, we reported the detention and imprisonment of various persons, among them lawyers and
human rights defenders Riad Turk, detained in 1980, Abdallah Qabara, detained in 1987 and Naif
