In the small-intestinal mucosa, the larvae mature<br />

into adults (Panel A, long arrow) and deposit<br />

eggs that re<strong>le</strong>ase first-stage rhabdoid larvae(<br />

short arrow; hematoxylin and eosin, x105).<br />

Strongyloidose<br />

Larvae are the usual diagnostic feature in the stool<br />

specimen (Panel B; iodine, x 505) and are identified by<br />

their short buccal cavity (long arrow) and prominent<br />

genital primordium (short arrow).<br />
