1.3. PIGMENTS RESPIRATOIRES - PRÉSENTATION GÉNÉRALE 37 medicinalis (Vergote et al., 2004). Des protéines proches des hémérythrines ou des myohémérythrines ont également été mises en évidence chez des bactéries, du corail et une espèce d’amibe pathogène (French et al., 2008). Un rôle d’une hémérythrine dans la défense anti-bactérienne a été montré chez l’Annélide Nereis diversicolor (Deloffre et al., 2003). Les hémocyanines Les hémocyanines sont des pigments liant l’oxygène par deux ions Cu + . On distingue deux gr<strong>and</strong>s types d’hémocyanines, pour lesquels la structure de la protéine est différente. Ces deux gr<strong>and</strong>s types correspondent aux hémocyanines de Mollusque et aux hémocyanines d’Arthropode. Chez toutes les espèces connues possédant une hémocyanine, celle-ci est extracellulaire et librement dissoute dans l’hémolymphe. Chez les Mollusques, l’hémocyanine a été observée chez les Polyplacophores, les Gastéropodes, les Céphalopodes et quelques bivalves Protobranches (van Holde et al., 1992). Chaque monomère de 300 à 450 kDa est composé de 7 à 8 domaines globulaires d’une masse de 50 kDa environ, chaque domaine possédant un site actif avec deux ions Cu + (figure 1.17(a)). Les monomères s’associent en décamères de 3-4 MDa ayant une forme de tonnelet (Céphalopodes et Polyplacophores) ou en didécamères de 8-10 MDa résultant de l’association de deux dodécamères en tonnelet (Gastéropodes) (figure 1.17(b)). Une recherche de séquences d’ADN codant des hémocyanines a récemment montré l’absence de séquences de type hémocyanine chez les Scaphopodes et les Solénogastres, mais leur présence chez les Caudofovéates (Lieb et Todt, 2008). Les hémocyanines d’Arthropodes seront présentées en détail dans la partie 1.4. Brièvement, ces hémocyanines sont formées par l’assemblage de sous-unités monodomaines de 75 kDa environ. Les complexes formés sont des hexamères ou des multiples d’hexamères. On observe principalement des hexamères et des dodécamères chez les Crustacés, et des 24-mères dans un groupe (Thalassinidés). Les complexes observés chez les Chélicérates sont des 24-mères et des 48-mères. Récemment, des hémocyanines ont été mises en évidence chez des Insectes (Hagner-Holler et al., 2004, Pick et al., 2008). 1.3.3 Le transport de l’oxygène par les pigments respiratoires Coopérativité et liaison de l’oxygène Les pigments respiratoires circulants sont généralement des enzymes multimériques qui présentent la plupart du temps un comportement allostérique.
