The temperature indicator (3) goes off<br />

when the grill plate (5) or the grill rack (6)<br />

has reached the required temperature.<br />

• While the appliance is switched on, the<br />

temperature indicator (3) will illuminate and<br />

extinguish as the thermostat (1) switches<br />

the heating elements on and off to maintain<br />

the required temperature.<br />

• To switch off the appliance, turn the<br />

thermostat dial (2) fully counterclockwise.<br />

• Remove the mains plug from the wall<br />

socket.<br />

• Turn the thermostat dial (2) clockwise to<br />

increase the temperature.<br />

• Turn the thermostat dial (2) counterclockwise<br />

to decrease the temperature.<br />

Hints for use<br />

• Prepare the ingredients.<br />

• Clean the grill plate or the grill rack with<br />

a damp cloth.<br />

• Place the appliance on a stable and flat<br />

surface.<br />

• Insert the thermostat into the thermostat<br />

socket.<br />

• Insert the mains plug into the wall socket.<br />

• Turn the thermostat dial to set the required<br />

temperature.<br />

• Wait a few minutes until the temperature<br />

indicator goes off. The heating elements<br />

have reached the required temperature.<br />

• Note: Small pieces will grill or fry better and<br />

more quickly than large pieces.<br />

• Set the thermostat to suit the ingredients.<br />

Experiment with the required cooking time<br />

and the required temperature to achieve<br />

Grilling<br />

Grilling is a cooking technique which is used<br />

to prepare meat, fish and other food on a grill<br />

plate or a grill rack.<br />

Grilling can be easily combined with racletting.<br />

Warning! Only start preparing food when the<br />

heating elements are fully heated.<br />

Racletting<br />

Racletting is a traditional Swiss cooking<br />

technique which is based on dishes prepared<br />

with melted cheese and potatoes. The grill<br />

plate or the grill rack is used to keep the<br />

potatoes warm and to grill meat, fish and other<br />

food. The pans are placed under the heating<br />

elements to prepare individual portions with<br />

melted cheese and ingredients of choice.<br />

Racletting can be easily combined with grilling.<br />

Warning! Only start preparing food when the<br />

heating elements are fully heated.<br />

Pickled onions 1 jar (340 g)<br />

Gherkins 1 jar (340 g)<br />

Dried beef (Bündnerfleisch) 200 g<br />

Smoked raw ham<br />

200 g<br />

Raclette cheese<br />

600 g<br />

Freshly ground pepper<br />

according to taste<br />

• Do not peel potatoes. Thoroughly scrub the<br />

potatoes. <strong>Cook</strong> the potatoes.<br />

• Cut the potatoes into slices. Put the sliced<br />

potatoes onto the grill plate to keep them<br />

warm.<br />

• Put a few potato slices into the pan.<br />

Cover the potato slices with a few slices of<br />

raclette cheese.<br />

• Sprinkle some pepper onto the raclette<br />

cheese (according to taste).<br />

• Place the pan onto the drip tray.<br />

• Allow the raclette cheese to melt.<br />

• Add the pickled onions, the gherkins,<br />

the dried beef, and the smoked raw ham.<br />

Pan frying<br />

Pan frying is a cooking technique in which<br />

more persons prepare their own food in a pan<br />

that is placed onto the grill plate or the grill<br />

rack while sitting around the same table.<br />

The best results are obtained when the<br />

thermostat dial is set to the highest temperature.<br />
