Axe « Immunité et Interaction Hôte-Pathogène»<br />
Les « Progress-Reports » reprennent, un mardi sur <strong>de</strong>ux,<br />
<strong>de</strong> 11h45 à 12h15 afin d’établir <strong>de</strong>s contacts réguliers<br />
entre les chercheurs et les étudiants concernés par les<br />
problématiques <strong>de</strong> cet axe, <strong>de</strong> donner <strong>de</strong> l’information sur<br />
les recherches en cours et <strong>de</strong> favoriser les discutions sur<br />
<strong>de</strong>s points techniques ou <strong>de</strong>s stratégies développées pour<br />
répondre à une question particulière.<br />
Axe «Nouvelles approches pour la biologie<br />
structurale intégrée»<br />
Une vingtaine <strong>de</strong> personnes ont participé à un atelier sur<br />
la technique d’échange hydrogène/<strong>de</strong>utérium associé à la<br />
spectrométrie <strong>de</strong> masse organisé les 5 et 6 décembre par<br />
Eric Forest. Cette technique (qui vient d’être automatisée<br />
à l’IBS à l’ai<strong>de</strong> d’un petit robot) permet l’i<strong>de</strong>ntification<br />
<strong>de</strong> régions <strong>de</strong> protéines (solubles ou membranaires)<br />
impliquées dans <strong>de</strong>s changements <strong>de</strong> conformation ou<br />
dans <strong>de</strong>s interactions. Au programme : une heure <strong>de</strong><br />
présentation théorique <strong>de</strong> l’approche et <strong>de</strong> ses possibilités et<br />
<strong>de</strong>ux heures <strong>de</strong> démonstration pratique <strong>de</strong> la manipulation<br />
et <strong>de</strong> l’exploitation <strong>de</strong>s données.<br />
Axe «Protéines membranaires»<br />
Le symposium sur la cristallisation <strong>de</strong>s protéines<br />
membranaires organisé les 14 et 15 novembre a réuni<br />
l’inventeur du concept <strong>de</strong> cristallisation en phases cubiques<br />
<strong>de</strong> lipi<strong>de</strong>s (E. Landau - Univ. Zurich), le développeur<br />
principal <strong>de</strong> cette métho<strong>de</strong> permettant ainsi la résolution <strong>de</strong><br />
plusieurs récepteurs GPCR humains (V. Cherezov-Scripps,<br />
USA) ainsi que <strong>de</strong>ux auteurs <strong>de</strong> structures remarquables<br />
récentes : V. Lebon (IGF CNRS) pour un récepteur GPCR et<br />
L Sazanov (MRC Cambridge) pour la structure du complex<br />
I mitochondrial). Plus <strong>de</strong> 60 personnes étaient inscrites<br />
à cette première journée. Parmi celles-ci, 7 avaient été<br />
sélectionnées pour suivre le cours pratique du <strong>de</strong>uxième<br />
jour, utilisant ainsi le robot <strong>de</strong> cristallisation en phase<br />
cubique récemment installé à l’IBS. Le symposium a été<br />
financé dans le cadre <strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong>ux programmes Européens, le<br />
réseau Marie-Curie ITN SBMP et le consortium EDICT.<br />
