Unpacking and checking 17. Unpacking and checking 18. Description Unpack the circulator and accessories and check for damages incurred during transit. These should be reported to the responsible carrier, railway, or postal authority, and a request for a damage report should be made. The form required for filing such a claim will be provided by the carrier. 19. Preparations The transparent thermostats are designed for the heating of water and silicone oil. The main functional elements are the heater, circulation pump, and control electronics. An electronic proportional temperature control (PID characteristic) adapts the heat supplied to the thermal requirements of the bath. Setting is rapid and simple using the keypad with its easy to learn symbols. Keypad is splash-proof, easily cleaned and ergonomically designed. The built-in microprocessor enables adjustment and setting of the working temperature and the desired high and low temperature warning limits. The adjustment is made via the MULTI-DISPLAY. The safety value for excess temperature protection, a safety installation independent from the control circuit, is adjustable on the rear. The transparent thermostat conforms to the safety requirements specified by DIN 12 876 (safety class III), as well as DIN 58 966, the guideline for first voltage range EN 61010-1 and the NAMUR recommendation. 19.1. Bath liquids 1. As a precaution against corrosion, SCHOTT Instruments GmbH recommends the use of Di-water (deionized water) and tap water at a mixture of 1 : 1 at 10 °dH to 5 : 1 at 30 °dH, depending on the hardness of the water. Temperature range: 10 °C to 80 °C Important: Using the Transparent Thermostat CT 53, CT 53 HT, CT 53 TT or CT 54 in the Viscosity Automatic Sampler AVS Pro with water as the bath liquid, the recommended temperature range is from 10 °C to 40 °C. 2. SCHOTT Instruments GmbH recommends the use of silicone oil or mineral oil with a maximum viscosity of 30 mm 2 x S -1 , (CT 54 HT 10 mm 2 x S -1 ) Temperature range: -40 °C to 150 °C 3. Ethanol and Polyglycole Temperature range: -40 °C bis +10 C°
Preparations Carefully read the safety data sheet of the bath liquid used, particularly with regard to the flash point. The max. working temperature must be selected 20 °C lower than the flashpoint of the liquid.
