Dear Traveler,
America is a country defined by explorers and powered by dreamers. At the American Queen Steamboat Company © , we are
both proud and honored to be part of the dream of American river cruising with the magnificent American Queen®. The largest
and most opulent riverboat in the world, the American Queen’s welcoming appearance is complemented by a culture of gracious
service, elegant décor, rousing entertainment and rewarding enrichment experiences. All of this is coupled with an in-depth
exploration of the cities, towns and historical sites that make up the fabric of the United States.
We are amazed by the overwhelming, heartfelt response to the American Queen and the luxurious amenities that we provide;
deluxe hotel stays before each voyage, remarkable shore excursions included in every port and a wealth of complimentary
onboard amenities. Nevertheless, we firmly believe that with every great accomplishment there is always room for
improvement. Therefore, the American Queen has just emerged from a stunning refurbishment and now boasts expanded
dining venues, enhanced public spaces, refreshed but authentic antebellum décor and a renewed commitment to defining the
American river cruise experience.
Beginning in the spring of 2014, our elegant and intimate style of travel expands to the Columbia and Snake Rivers in the
Pacific Northwest. The soaring mountains, dramatic landscapes, abundant wildlife and frontier spirit of the fascinating West
are the perfect complements to the cultural history, quiet towns and genteel character of our voyages on the Mississippi,
Ohio, Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers. Just as the American Queen embodies the Heartland and legacy of Mark Twain, the
American Empress was exclusively designed to celebrate the rich tradition of exploration in the West.
Over two hundred years ago President Thomas Jefferson charged the “Corps of Discovery” with the mission to reach the
Pacific Ocean. Today, the American Empress travels between Portland, Oregon and Clarkston, Washington re-tracing the
footsteps of Lewis and Clark all while surrounding you with the comforts of modern luxury. The wonders they discovered on
their courageous quest are now the majestic backdrop and inspirational destinations that the American Empress reveals to you
in a pampered and modern environment unimaginable to Lewis and Clark so long ago. Take time to explore overlooks that
were used by these intrepid explorers, visit charming towns nestled along the river and stroll through vineyards that produce
some of the finest wines in the world.
Regardless of which riverboat captures your imagination and regardless of which region wins your heart, a vacation aboard
the American Queen or the American Empress is one unlike any other. Consider celebrating with us some of the special themes
that embrace American traditions and history; themes such as the Fourth of July, Southern Culture, Good Old Summertime,
Baseball Legends, Bourbon & Bluegrass, Old-Fashioned Holidays, and Elvis Presley on the American Queen or Lewis & Clark
and the Wine Trail on display on the American Empress. Nature’s beauty and the historical tapestry that blankets this land
have been in the making for countless generations. We invite you to join our friendly American crew and get acquainted with
America’s hidden treasures in peerless comfort and luxurious style.
Welcome aboard,
Your experience is not limited to the view from your
veranda or the included shore excursions; each night
and every bite is a memorable delight. Our awardwinning
chefs carefully select the best seasonal and
local ingredients for traditional recipes as well as
unique culinary creations.
Your first decision each morning: whether to relax in
bed with a cheerful breakfast tray of freshly brewed
coffee and piping hot beignets, linger in the elegant
dining room or enjoy the informal atmosphere of an
alternate venue. Menu choices are many, including
made-to-order omelets; egg strudel with spinach,
tomato and feta; andouille hash with corn cakes; and
decadent bananas foster French toast.
Our signature Jazz Brunch is a veritable feast
of freshly baked pastries, carved meats, fish and
seafood, salads, sautéed vegetables, and of course,
everyone’s favorite – dessert.
Choices are equally abundant for lunch. Make it
as light or as hearty as you wish, sampling from an
extensive buffet or enjoying traditional service in
the main dining room. Both feature creative soups,
salads, heartier fare and decadent desserts.
For an informal lunch with a view, our alternative
dining venues offer a cornucopia of choices –
freshly made salads, burgers, exquisite hot and cold
entrées, along with desserts and the ever popular ice
cream and sundae bar.
The nightly five-course dinner in the J.M. White
Dining Room on the American Queen showcases the
varied cultural and culinary influences of our great
nation. Inspired by the American heartland and our
Southern heritage, each offering is a celebration
of flavor. Perhaps you will start with a fried green
tomato with crawfish in a Cajun beurre blanc
followed by hearts of romaine in green goddess
dressing and roasted quail in a pepper crust with
apple smoked bacon.
On the American Empress, in the Romanov Dining
Room, you might start with gravlax in dill and
mustard sauce followed by Beef Wellington. A
sumptuous array of selections is presented each and
every evening to tempt your palate – all we can say is
bon appétit!
Our alternative dining venues offer the ideal respite
for a relaxing, al fresco dinner, affording idyllic
commanding views of the river and passing scenery.
You will feast on freshly grilled meats, sumptuous
seafood, a medley of vegetables and salads and a
supreme selection of desserts. Of course, if you
are feeling peckish any time of the day or night,
the Front Porch Café or the River Grille offer a
selection of sandwiches, fresh fruits, popcorn and
soft-serve ice cream around the clock while 24-hour
room service is just a phone call away.

Night after night, top entertainers bring down the
house in the American Queen’s Grand Saloon and
the Showroom on the American Empress. Two decks
tall, the Grand Saloon is palatial and a room you
would expect to find on a large ocean liner. Each
evening, the lights dim, the curtain rises and our
talented performers offer you entertainment worthy
of Broadway.
Rousing musical revues and high-energy cabaret
from our immensely talented and energetic cast takes
center stage each evening. After the show, dance and
swing to stellar performances of jazz, blues, ragtime,
bluegrass, country and rock and roll in the handsome
Engine Room Bar, or join in a lively piano sing-along
in the Main Deck Lounge.
The Showroom on the American Empress offers a
more intimate atmosphere, ideal for soloists and soft
piano music as you share over cocktails the day’s
discoveries and the surprises tomorrow holds in store.
As history plays such a large part of your experience,
our guest historians often take the stage and will
transport you to another era. Relive a tale from
Mark Twain or a recounting of the Lewis & Clark
Expedition for a spellbinding evening, and you will
retire to your stateroom convinced you’ve just had a
conversation with history.
Of course, we will keep you entertained all day with
an enticing and diverse line-up of noted speakers
who offer insights on the culture, people and history
of the destinations we visit. Or join our engaging
Riverlorian up on deck for tales of the legend and
lore of the river.
Many American Queen itineraries feature special
themed entertainment. Our first cruise of the season
on February 21 kicks off with Big Band Swing, a
timeless sound that’s always in style. A tribute to the
King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, is the highlight
of our May 30 and December 5 sailings. Embrace
the soulful sound of the Delta Blues on June 6, or
enjoy back-to-back Bourbon & Bluegrass cruises on
August 29 and September 5. Our house band and
singers are some of the best around, so rest assured
that every cruise offers wonderful entertainment.
The grand size of the American Queen and the
warm ambiance of the Showroom on the American
Empress allow us to present a variety and caliber of
entertainment that is most notable.

HISTORIC RIVERS SHOW YOU
THE WONDERS OF A NATION
Rugged mountains with mantles of snow tower
over wilderness rivers. Southern belles in period
hoop skirts and bonnets greet you with a mint
julep beneath a row of 200-year old oak trees. Log
cabins along the Mississippi River and frontier
forts on bluffs above the Columbia River reflect
the pioneering spirit of America. Magnolia trees
blossom, wild salmon swim upriver, vineyards hug the
Washington hills and stately antebellum plantations
touch the water’s edge in Louisiana. History and
scenic vistas combine on a voyage with the American
Queen Steamboat Company as rivers transport you
to lands of wonder and times long forgotten.
Give yourself over to the voices of history. Mark
Twain’s words echo on the quiet streets of Hannibal,
Missouri where Tom Sawyer and his friends
whitewashed picket fences. Along the Mississippi
and Ohio Rivers, silent battlefields stand in mute
testimony to the thunder and rhetoric that spawned
the Civil War. Thomas Jefferson’s words to Lewis
and Clark to find “the most direct and practicable
water communication across this continent” take on
new meaning in the unspoiled terrain of the Pacific
Northwest, the Columbia River’s gorges and the
canyons of the Snake River. Native American chants
and songs from Oregon to Tennessee and from
Minnesota to Mississippi tell the story of a people
who are one with the land.
Revel in the sights, sounds and perfumed aromas
of the South. From your perch on the American
Queen, watch the mist rise off the quiet waters of
the Tennessee or Cumberland Rivers, a rooster
crowing in the distance. Inhale the sweet fragrance of
historic Natchez gardens and the piquant aroma of
Creole cuisine in magical New Orleans. In the West,
the American Empress follows the Columbia River
from the Pacific Ocean deep into the mountains.
Waterfalls cascade into deep gorges and a bald eagle
flies lazy circles in the unbreakable dome of blue sky
overhead. From the decks of your riverboat, America’s
greatest scenic treasures glide by as you’ve never seen
them before. Celebrate America’s beauty, culture and
history through her rivers.

Welcome To
THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI
THE RIVER THAT DEFINES A NATION
The lower stretch of the Mississippi, from carefree New Orleans to
vibrant Memphis, is the river of legends. Old Man River has been
celebrated in print, song and film for many generations. Control of the
Mighty Mississippi was the key strategic goal of the Civil War and even
today it is still the lifeblood of commerce in the Old South. This is the
river of centuries-old shaded oak trees, elegant antebellum plantations,
cobblestone streets and Victorian mansions. Hear the river’s music in
blues, jazz, zydeco and rock and roll and savor its diversity with a host
of distinctive Creole and Cajun culinary delights. The world of Mark
Twain’s revered book Life on the Mississippi is best experienced from
the vantage point of the graceful American Queen, the most opulent
riverboat in the world.
Celebrate New Orleans’ unabashed and unapologetic joy in the fine
restaurants and sidewalk cafes of the French Quarter, the jazz clubs
lining Bourbon Street and the strolling musicians in Jackson Square.
Music is also the heart and soul of Memphis - from Elvis’ inspiring
Graceland to the blues joints of Beale Street. The city’s National Civil
Rights Museum chronicles a long journey to freedom and the Stax
Museum of American Soul Music records the rise of a beloved musical
art form.
Between these glittering cities is a necklace of traditional plantations
and homes. Oak Alley transports you back to the era of hoop skirts,
cotillions and cotton fields. The flowers, fountains and pathways found
on the plantations in the area we affectionately refer to as Plantation
Road are a testament to the Louisiana way of life before the Civil
War. Natchez, Mississippi’s captivating historic district shines in the
lovingly-restored homes of Magnolia Hall, Rosalie Mansion and the
William Johnson House.
Thousands of tombstones which mark the fallen in Vicksburg,
Mississippi reflect the tragic sacrifices of the Civil War. French
Canadian fur trappers defined Cajun culture in bold Baton Rouge,
Louisiana while the lost settlement of Bayou Sara below the bluffs
of St. Francisville, Louisiana was once the busiest pre-Civil War port
between New Orleans and Memphis.
This is the soul of the Mississippi River. Inhale the sweet fragrance of
magnolia blossoms, sit in a rocking chair with a glass of sweet tea on
the American Queen’s Front Porch of America and watch the essence of
the South unfold around you.

Welcome To
THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI
TREASURES OF SUMMER AND COLORS OF FALL
Th e upper reaches of the Mississippi River from dynamic St. Louis to the
twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are rich with frontier tales of fur
traders and pioneers set among picturesque geography and abundant wildlife.
Hidden gems around each bend of the river fuel your sense of discovery as
the very best of America’s Heartland unfolds before you.
St. Louis was the hub for riverboats traveling along the Mississippi and the
jumping-off point for exploration and settlement of the West. Today, that
heritage is refl ected in the shining stainless steel Gateway Arch that curves
above the skyline and in the Jeff erson National Expansion Memorial that lies
beneath. Upriver, St. Paul was once described by Mark Twain as “a wonderful
town…put together in solid blocks of honest brick and stone, and has the
air of intending to stay.” In Minneapolis, its sister city across the Mississippi
River, the Frank Gehry-designed Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum, the
contemporary Walker Art Museum and the notable Minneapolis Institute of
Arts are an art afi cionado’s dream.
Perhaps no person defi ned America’s view of its greatest river more than
Mark Twain. Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn and Becky Th atcher are alive and well
in Hannibal, Missouri, Samuel Clemens’ boyhood home. In Cape Girardeau,
Missouri, an enormous mural painted on the fl oodwall that stretches the
length of the downtown area immortalizes 275 years of local progress, wars
and achievements.
Fur trappers, Mormons, lumberjacks and railroad barons built La Crosse,
Wisconsin while in Dubuque, Iowa, looks can be deceiving. What seems
like a typical Midwestern city also happens to be one of the “oldest
European settlements west of the Mississippi River.” Davenport, Iowa’s
infl uence is seen in the smokestacks on the American Queen, which fold
forward so she can slip under bridges and power lines. In 1856, a steamboat
rammed the city’s newly-built railway bridge and a young lawyer named
Abraham Lincoln successfully defended the Rock Island Railroad,
suggesting the idea of “telescoping chimneys” to avoid future tragedies.
In Wisconsin and Minnesota, wildlife takes center stage both on and above
the rolling hills and limestone bluff s that cradle the river on its journey
through the Heartland. Deer come to the water’s edge and falcons and
ospreys soar overhead. View an impressive population of bald eagles on an
eco-cruise from Red Wing, Minnesota or at the National Eagle Center in
nearby Wabasha. Let the seasons guide your travels as the lush green lawns
and colorful fl owerboxes of summer give way to the fi ery reds, autumnal
oranges and electric yellows of the trees celebrating the coming of fall.

Welcome To
THE OHIO AND
TENNESSEE RIVERS
A VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY
Discover America’s cultural quilt in the cities and towns of the Ohio and
Tennessee Rivers. From Civil War battlefi elds, forts and homesteads to
quaint main streets and friendly smiles, this region will welcome you with
open arms and enrich you with its storied history. Our new voyages on the
Cumberland River wind through forest-covered hills and uncover its past in
the homespun sounds of bluegrass.
Let the river tell you the stories of the Civil War at Lookout Mountain in
Chattanooga and the monuments and tombstones of Shiloh. Th e Battle
of Brandenburg Crossing began when Confederate General John Hunt
Morgan raided Indiana and ended when he was captured crossing the Ohio
River back into Kentucky. Step back to the Revolutionary War in Wheeling,
West Virginia and learn how the British tried to capture the fort in 1782 but
were thwarted by a tablecloth full of gunpowder.
Th e cities of the river have their own rhythm. In Nashville, a new destination
in 2014, feel the pulse of country music at the stately Grand Ole Opry and
the exciting Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and dive into
history at the home of President Andrew Jackson. Gaze at Cincinnati’s
replica of the American Queen’s paddlewheel which graces a riverfront park,
try some of the city’s legendary chili or take in a Reds game, the oldest club
in baseball. Sit down to a Southern-style breakfast with jockeys and trainers
at Churchill Downs, then explore a centuries-old tradition on Kentucky’s
Bourbon Trail. Th is region is the source of 95% of all Bourbon.
In Henderson, Kentucky, head over to John James Audubon State Park,
listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and tour an elegant facility
with original artwork by the renowned naturalist and painter. Charming
Maysville is the gateway to Kentucky’s Bluegrass Region Walk and was a key
stop on the Underground Railroad.
Relive the outlaw days at Cave-In-Rock, Illinois, a base for river pirates intent
on robbing keelboats, fl atboats and steamboats of their valuables as they
passed by in the 1800s. In Marietta, Ohio’s Harmar Village is a wonderland
of brick streets, lamp posts, restored train cars and historic buildings that is
now home to welcoming shops, eateries and museums.
Th e Ohio River is a kaleidoscope of big cities and small towns that showcase
Welcome To
THE COLUMBIA
AND SNAKE RIVERS
FRONTIERS, PIONEERS AND VINEYARDS
Nowhere is the timelessness of rivers more apparent than here in the
pristine Pacifi c Northwest where the Columbia and Snake Rivers wind
through gentle hills, impressive mountains, vertical canyons and fertile fi elds.
Th e land appears in 2014 just as it did to Lewis and Clark in 1805 –
majestic, unspoiled and unimaginably glorious.
Sacajawea, Lewis and Clark’s faithful Native American guide, knew how to
read these lands and soon you will also thanks to the legacy of the expedition
that opened the West to settlement. Pioneering reminders range from Fort
Clatsop outside Astoria, Oregon where they survived the harsh winter, to the
sister cities of Clarkston, Washington and Lewiston, Idaho 400 miles to the
east. Th e explorers overcame the formidable Celilo Falls and currents near
Th e Dalles, Oregon, a struggle brought to light at Rock Fort Campsite. Th e
role of Sacajawea in the expedition’s success is interpreted at the state park in
Washington’s Tri-Cities Region.
As you relive the daring exploits of frontiersmen and adventurers, you are
treated to the very same natural wonders. Columbia Gorge cuts through
the Cascade Mountains thanks to the Missoula Floods of the last Ice Age.
At Multnomah Falls, snowmelt streams plunge over 600 feet in two tiered
cascades down a sheer cliff face. Deeper than the Grand Canyon, Idaho’s
Hell’s Canyon is a dramatic crack in the earth with raging waters best
explored on an exciting jet boat ride. Near Portland, understand the raw
power of nature in the collapsed volcanic crater of Mount St. Helens. Along
the Columbia River, fi sh ladders help salmon swim upstream and bison, deer
and elk graze freely.
With the American Empress serving as a fl oating boutique hotel for your
journey, travel into the heart of Washington’s wine country. Th e many
acclaimed wineries overlooking the Columbia River have made their mark
among wine connoisseurs, earning the celebrated Walla Walla Wine Trail its
nickname, the Napa of the North.
From Portland’s lovely International Rose Test Garden to the hallowed
artifacts on the Nez Perce Reservation, the Pacifi c Northwest region comes
to life. Tour a millionaire’s Victorian home in Astoria, Oregon and marvel at
the engineering achievement of the Bonneville Dam. Whether you choose to
take in the scenery from Mt. Hood’s Timberline Lodge nestled among the
pines or climb the Astoria Column to view the expansive Pacifi c, a voyage
on the Columbia and Snake Rivers will show you the world
from a new perspective.

WELCOME TO THE MAGNIFICENT PACIFIC NORTHWEST - Whether you travel east from Portland or west from Clarkston, these
extraordinary river voyages expose you to the comprehensive bounty and beauty of nature, as well as the rich history and living legacy of the people
who inhabited this diverse region.
Oregon brims with beauty at each and every turn. Portland, the “City of Roses,” showcases an eclectic blend of art galleries, coffee shops, museums
and farm-to-table restaurants with a spirited vibe. Marvel at the beauty of more than 8,000 roses at the International Rose Test Garden or spend
the day discovering nature’s boundless power at nearby Mount St. Helens. Stroll along the shops and cafes of the Riverwalk in Astoria, or discover
the Native American culture of Clatsop County at the Heritage Museum. The George Flavel House offers you an exciting glimpse into the 19th
century life of a millionaire. Take in the views from the top of the Astoria Column more than 600 feet above the water. The end of the Oregon
Trail brings us to The Dalles where shoppers will adore the quaint boutiques and oenophiles will enjoy Sunshine Mills Winery, the origin of Copa
Di Vino, or “wine by the glass,” a single serving alternative to the bottle. Peer into early pioneer life on display at the Fort Dalles Museum and the
Original Courthouse Museum.
The scenic river towns of Washington host awe-inspiring views and intriguing historic sites that are sure to pique your interest. Stevenson’s Columbia
Gorge Interpretive Center provides an interesting look at the geological forces that shaped the area while a tour of the Bonneville Dam details
the unique challenges of building this power plant with a minimal impact to wildlife – the answer is fish ladders. Sacajawea State Park commemorates
the historic 1805 event when Lewis and Clark camped there with their Native American guide, Sacajawea. Gain insight into the world of
agriculture at the County Mercantile Store, part of a working farm with agricultural demonstrations. Nez Perce National Historic Park in Clarkston
tells the story of the Nez Perce Native American tribe who assisted Lewis and Clark and still reside in the area today. A stop at the Clarkston
Heritage Museum will unfold pieces of the past from one-room schoolhouses to big business ice harvesting.
Regardless of which port you choose to begin your journey, whether you start in Portland and end in Clarkston or start in Clarkston and end in
Portland, your journey through the Pacific Northwest will impart the same sense of excitement and wonder that William Clark so vividly expressed
in his journal entry on November 7, 1805, “Ocian in view! O! The joy!”
Travelers who desire something tailored to a more specific interest may wish to indulge in a Premium Experience Excursion. See pages 48 & 49 for
a selection of available options.
Mount St. Helens Volcano Tour
(Portland, Oregon – Pre- or Post-Voyage)
Portland may be the largest city in Oregon, but it is
often praised for its small-town feel. A guided tour
of the city aboard our industry-leading motorcoaches
will bring you to your Mount St. Helens Volcano Tour.
In 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted, changing the face
of the mountain itself and causing over one billion
dollars in damage. Today, the scene is much more
tranquil. Though still an active stratovolcano, the area
is again safe for recreation, allowing you an extensive,
up-close guided tour of this natural wonder.
The Lewis & Clark Experience (Astoria, Oregon)
Retrace the steps of America’s most famous
frontiersmen on a special Lewis & Clark
Experience. Your adventure begins at the Lewis
and Clark Interpretive Center on the cliffs of Cape
Disappointment overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Experience the beauty and power through the eyes of
those early explorers. Proceeding to Fort Clatsop you
will learn of the challenges Lewis and Clark’s party,
Corps of Discovery, faced at their winter encampment
before returning east in the spring of 1806. This tour
provides a greater appreciation for the challenges the
weary Corps of Discovery overcame in pursuit of the
Pacific Ocean.
P r e m i u m t o u r o P t i o n s
Included tours are a great way to get acquainted with the historically rich ports along your American Empress voyage.
You might want to delve deeper into your particular interests. Our Premium Experience Excursions serve that
purpose. Follow more closely the Lewis & Clark Expedition or circuit the wineries of Walla Walla, known as the
Napa of the North. Call for pricing and availability on your voyage.
The Beauty & Bounty of the Pacific Northwest
simply stunning, from the ethereal peak of Mount
Hood to the ingenuity and resilience of local fruit and
vegetable farmers. Nature’s Beauty and Bounty is the
theme of this Premium Experience Excursion. At Mt.
Hood’s historic Timberline Lodge, enjoy a stunning
view of the eleven glaciers that live year-round on
Oregon’s highest peak. Next, you will travel along the
35-mile scenic roadway known as the Fruit Loop for
the prevalence of orchards and vineyards in the area.
You will enjoy some of the best fruit, wine and historic
landmarks the Fruit Loop has to offer. Your tour
includes a social lunch with local horticulturists and
concludes with a wine toast to Mt. Hood.
High Octane Antiques (The Dalles, Oregon)
Relive the wonder and excitement of the advent of
automobiles and airplanes at the Western Antique
Aeroplane and Automobile Museum. What makes this
working order. Imagine seeing a 100-year-old aircraft
take to the skies!

Walla Walla Wine Trail Tour
(Sacajawea State Park, Washington)
The history of the top secret Manhattan Project that
led to the development of nuclear energy and its uses
is fascinating. Hanford Research Facility played an
integral role in the Manhattan Project. Its B-Reactor
was the first large-scale plutonium production reactor
in the world. Exploring the abandoned facilities, you
Advance Travel Information
U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. traveling
exclusively inside U.S. borders do not need a passport or
visa for travel. Homeland Security laws require that all
guests travel with government-issued photo identification
(ID) (such as a driver’s license) at all times. ID must be
presented at the time of boarding. Guests without proper
ID will be denied boarding. Carrier is required to provide
all guests’ ID information including ID number, expiration
date, and place of issue to the Coast Guard and/or other
government entities prior to the vessel’s departure. Guests
must provide this information to Carrier in advance. Travel
documents will not be released until received. Canadian
citizens or permanent residents of Canada entering the U.S.
are required to bring their passport. For other nationalities,
passports are required to enter the U.S. It is your responsibility
to check with your local U.S. embassy/consulate to
confirm visa requirements and to obtain the proper visa.
Documentation
Final travel documents, including itinerary and vouchers
(if applicable) will be sent approximately four (4) weeks
prior to departure. Reservation must be paid in full and
guest identification information must be received before
documents will be sent.
Health & Disability Requirements
Guests must notify us in writing at the time of booking
of any physical or mental illness, disability or other
conditions for which special accommodations or the use of
a wheelchair is necessary or contemplated. Also we must be
notified of any medical treatment that may render the guest
unfit for travel or constitute a risk or danger to the guest
or anyone else on board. The vessels do not carry a medical
doctor aboard. Acute medical conditions will require you
to disembark to be attended to by shoreside emergency
and/or medical response. Guests needing any form of
assistance and those who are physically disabled must be
accompanied by someone who will take full responsibility
for any needed assistance during the cruise and in the
event of an emergency. We reserve the right to refuse
passage to anyone who, in our sole opinion, may affect
the health, safety or enjoyment of other guests. Guests
requiring a wheelchair must provide their own collapsible
wheelchair. Please be aware that some ports of call, shore
excursions, docks, gangways and other requirements may
preclude a wheelchair guest from leaving the vessel; this
decision will be made by the ship’s captain and is binding.
Also, there may be certain physical conditions, including
raised doorway thresholds from 2 to 16 inches, stairways
and narrow passageways within the vessel that may limit
or preclude the accessibility of wheelchair guests to some
areas. We strongly recommend you purchase travel
protection, either the plan we offer or a plan from your
Travel Agent. With travel insurance you can plan and
enjoy your trip with complete peace of mind.
Federal Maritime Commission Protection
having berth or stateroom accommodations for 50 or more
to indemnify passengers for nonperformance of transportation.
American Queen Steamboat Company maintains an
escrow agreement to protect passenger payments for water
transportation. This escrow agreement has been reviewed
and approved by the Federal Maritime Commission.
