3. Place a small strip of the cut edge into solution A for 5-
10mins; observe whether the emulsion layer of the sample
strip comes off automatically. We can then formally begin
the transplantation operation.
4. Put the negative to be restored into solution A.
Constantly shake the enamel pan. When the emulsion
layer comes off automatically from the support, firstly take
out the support and subbed layer, letting the image layer
remain in the solution for about 10min for the plastic to
dissolve.
5. Take the emulsion layer out of solution A and put it
into solution B for 5min. The gelatin layer spreads rapidly
and the wrinkles of the image layer are smoothed out, the
bubbles disappear, and the residual plastic continues to
dissolve.
6. Hold up the emulsion layer from solution B with an
accepting support which is bottom-upward, smooth out
the layer with a Chinese writing brush, get rid of the
bubbles, dry the newly-restored negative in the open air.
7. If traces of stripes appear on the dried negative, it can be
placed into fresh water to wet it, then copy a reversal
negative film. All traces of stripes can be cleared up this
way.
