SIGNED AT ASUNCION, ON 21 NOVEMBER 1955 1 EXCHANGE OF NOTES CONSTITUTING AN AGREEMENT 2 FURTHER PROLONGING THE ABOVE-MENTIONED AGREEMENT. (Note No. 50) Her Majesty's Ambassador at Asunci6n to the Paraguayan Minister for Foreign Affairs Your Excellency, BRITISH EMBASSY Asunci6n, 23 November, 1966 Under the terms of the Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of Paraguay on Trade and Payments, signed on the 21st of November, 1955, 1 and amended by the exchange of Notes between Your Excellency and my predecessor dated the 27th of November, 1961, 3 the Agreement " shall terminate on the 27th of November, 1966, unless the contracting Governments agree otherwise ". Since consideration of the proposal by Her Majesty's Government that the Agreement should be extended for a further five years is still under consideration and since the terminal date is now close, I have the honour to suggest that the Agreement be temporarily prolonged as it stands for a period of two months from the 28th of November, 1966, until the 27th of January, 1967. 2. If this proposal is acceptable to the Government of Paraguay I have the honour to suggest that Your Excellency's reply in that sense and this Note should be regarded as constituting an Agreement between the two Governments in this matter. 3. 1967 Nations Unies - Recueil des Traitis 351 II The Paraguayan Minister for Foreign Affairs to Her Majesty's Ambassador at Asunci6n [SPANISH TEXT - TEXTE ESPAGNOL] MINISTERIO DE RELACIONES EXTERIORES Asunci6n, 23 de noviembre de 1966 Sefior Embajador: Tengo a honra acusar recibo a la nota de Vuestra Excelencia No 50, de esta misma fecha, cuyo texto es el siguiente: " Excelencia :Bajo los tdrminos del Convenio Comercial y de Pagos existente entre el Gobierno del Reino Unido de Gran Bretafia e Irlanda del Norte y el Gobierno del Paraguay firmado el 21 de noviembre de 1955 y modificado por el canje de notas entre Vuestra Excelencia y mi predecesor fechadas el 27 de noviembre de 1961, dicho Convenio " terminarl el 27 de noviembre de 1966, a menos que los Gobiernos contratantes adopten de comdin acuerdo una resoluci6n diferente ". En vista de que estd afin bajo consideraci6n la propuesta del Gobierno de Su Majestad Brit nica en el sentido de prolongar el acuerdo por un periodo de cinco afios y dado que se acerca la fecha de terminaci6n tengo el honor de proponer a Vuestra Excelencia que el Convenio sea temporalmente prolongado por un periodo de dos meses desde el 28 de noviembre de 1966 hasta el 27 de enero de 1967. " 2. De ser esta propuesta aceptable al Gobierno del Paraguay, tengo el honor de sugerir que esta Nota y la respuesta de Vuestra Excelencia en los mismos t~rminos sean considerados como constituyendo un Acuerdo entre los dos Gobiernos sobre esta cuesti6n. " 3. Hago propicia esta oportunidad para reiterar a Vuestra Excelencia las seguridades de mi mas alta y distinguida consideraci6n. " En respuesta, me es grato manifestar a Vuestra Excelencia que el Gobierno de mi pais concuerda con las disposiciones contenidas en vuestra nota precedentemente transcripta, y por consiguiente, la misma y la presente nota, constituyen un Acuerdo sobre la materia.
