Repairing the software<br />

Installing the Software<br />

You can use the new Microsoft Windows Installer technology to reinstall and<br />

repair your <strong>GroupShield</strong> installation files, registry keys and shortcuts if they<br />

become invalid. You can repair the software in the following circumstances:<br />

One or more files are out of date, missing or corrupt.<br />

One or more registry values need to be rewritten.<br />

One or more shortcuts or icons need to be reinstalled or edited.<br />

To repair <strong>GroupShield</strong>:<br />

NOTE: If you have modified the SETUP.INI file using the /q /i<br />

parameters, perhaps to carry out a silent install, you will need to remove<br />

these changes in order to use SETUP.EXE to repair or uninstall<br />

<strong>GroupShield</strong>.<br />

1 Go to the location from which you installed <strong>GroupShield</strong> and<br />

double-click SETUP.EXE to open the Add/Remove Application dialog box.<br />

2 Click Repair.<br />

The Updating the system dialog box opens, reporting the progress of the<br />

repair.<br />

3 On completion, click Finish.<br />

Removing the software<br />

You can remove <strong>GroupShield</strong> either by using the Microsoft Windows Installer,<br />

or the standard Add/Remove Programs function in the Control Panel.<br />

NOTE: Removing <strong>GroupShield</strong> leaves your users unprotected against<br />

viruses. Remove the program only when you are sure that you no longer<br />

require this protection.<br />

1 Go to the location from which you installed <strong>GroupShield</strong> and<br />

double-click SETUP.EXE.<br />
