Installing the Software
For full details of the parameters and how to create the .GSE file, see
“Installing the software from the command line” on page 26
In the template above:
The /q and /i switches tell msiexec that it is a silent installation,
running without user intervention. These switches must be the last
of the values entered for the CmdLine key.
The Silent=Yes tells SETUP.EXE to operate silently (this is in
addition to the installation being silent, as defined by the /q switch
at the end of the CmdLine).
The UpgradeCmdLine switches /q and /x tell msiexec that all
upgrade processing should be done silently.
Organization forms are not installed.
GroupShield is installed to the directory specified.
The configuration information is taken from the .GSE file specified.
You can customize the template to meet your requirements:
If you do not want to install organization forms, add the
STOPFORMINSTALL parameter.
To install GroupShield in a location other than the default, add the
INSTALLDIR parameter with the required location.
If you want to overwrite the existing configuration values, add the
GSECONFIGFILE parameter.
2 Run SETUP.EXE.
SETUP.EXE processes the SETUP.INI file, extracting the required
installation information, and runs SETUP.MSI on completion.
Upgrading on clustered servers
When upgrading GroupShield on clustered servers, make sure that you make
the upgrade to the same server and directory that was used for
the initial installation. Updating to a different server or will
cause any pre-existing data and configuration settings to be over-written.
