Installing the Software
You can customize the template to meet your requirements:
If you want to install forms, leave out
STOPFORMINSTALL=Y.
If you want to specify the installation directory during installation,
leave out the INSTALLDIR parameter.
If you want to preserve the existing configuration values, leave out
the GSECONFIGFILE parameter. The previous version’s
configuration values are preserved where appropriate, and the 5.2
defaults are used where there are no equivalent existing values.
2 Run SETUP.EXE.
SETUP.EXE processes the SETUP.INI file, extracting the required
installation information, and runs SETUP.MSI on completion. If no
parameters are changed by using the SETUP.INI file, the installation on
the current server will be upgraded and as many of its configuration
settings as possible will be retained.
Using SETUP.INI to customize the installation
You can upgrade a previous version of GroupShield Exchange silently so that
you do not have to respond during the installation process.
Use the SETUP.EXE program to upgrade to GroupShield Exchange 5.2.
SETUP.EXE processes the SETUP.INI file, which provides information
necessary to perform the installation. You must edit SETUP.INI as described
below. The edited SETUP.INI launches the msiexec command, after having
performed various other tasks.
NOTE: The three setup files (SETUP.EXE, SETUP.INI and SETUP.MSI)
must be in the same directory.
To edit SETUP.INI and upgrade your system silently, follow these steps:
1 Edit SETUP.INI, or create it if necessary, and write the following text to it:
[WiseInstaller]
CmdLine=[STOPFORMINSTALL=Y]
[INSTALLDIR=]
[GSECONFIGFILE=.GSE] /q /i
Silent=Yes
UpgradeCmdLine=/q /x
NOTE: The CmdLine section must be on a single line — ignore the
line breaks above.
