Installing the Software Changes to your system after installation After GroupShield has been installed on your system for the first time, you will notice the following changes: The product is installed in the directory specified during installation. A GroupShield Exchange snap-in is present in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). A hidden Windows 2000 user account and a Microsoft Exchange mailbox named GSE is created. A Quarantine Manager database or quarantine directory is created on your Microsoft Exchange server. A new Organization() folder is created on the Microsoft Exchange server if it did not already exist. Two organization forms, AVform and Sumform are in the \i386 folder under the Forms directory. The forms display the GroupShield Exchange anti-virus reports. For descriptions of the forms and their actions, see the GroupShield version 5.2 for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Product Guide. The McAfee and Network Associates services are added to your system, viewable in the Services console. The following services start automatically when GroupShield is installed: McAfee GroupShield Exchange. This is dependent on the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service. McAfee GroupShield On-Line Update service. McAfee Log Service. This may already exist on your system if you are running other McAfee anti-virus software. Network Associates Alert Manager service. This may already exist on your system if you are running other McAfee anti-virus software. McAfee Outbreak Manager service. This service is dependent on the McAfee Log Service. It may already exist on your system if you are running other McAfee anti-virus software and operates as a Microsoft Windows service, so it continually monitors your computer. NOTE: Occasionally you may need to stop and restart one of the GroupShield services for a particular action to take effect. To find out more, see the GroupShield version 5.2 for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Product Guide. ENG-30 GroupShield version 5.2 for Microsoft Exchange 2000

Upgrading an existing version of the software Installing the Software If your server already has an existing version of GroupShield for Microsoft Exchange 2000, either version 4.5 or 5.0, you can upgrade your installation to version 5.2. Using SETUP.INI during upgrade To upgrade GroupShield from a previous version, use SETUP.EXE. SETUP.EXE processes the SETUP.INI file, which provides information necessary to perform the installation. You may edit SETUP.INI if necessary, as described in the following procedure. The edited SETUP.INI launches the msiexec command, after having performed various other tasks. NOTE: The three setup files (SETUP.EXE, SETUP.INI and SETUP.MSI) must be in the same directory. To edit SETUP.INI and upgrade your system: 1 Edit SETUP.INI, or create it if necessary, and write the following text to it: [WiseInstaller] CmdLine=[STOPFORMINSTALL=Y] [INSTALLDIR=] [GSECONFIGFILE=.GSE] /i NOTE: The CmdLine section must be on a single line — separate each parameter with a space, do not use line breaks. For full details of the parameters and how to create the .GSE file, see “Installing the software from the command line” on page 26. In the above template: Organization forms are not installed. GroupShield is installed to the directory specified. The configuration information is taken from the .GSE file specified, overwriting the previous configuration settings. The /i switch specifies that it is an installation. Installation Guide ENG-31
