Installing the Software
GSECONFIGFILE=.
Identifies a custom configuration file to be used in lieu of defaults for
GroupShield. This file contains a copy of another GroupShield server's
configuration information that was defined in the Configuration
Properties console (all properties except Scan Threads and Per-database
settings on the VS API tab). To create a configuration file, use the Copy
Configuration utility.
Any or all of the parameters can be specified. If none are specified, forms are
installed, you are prompted for the installation directory, and default values
are used for configuration.
NOTE: If you are upgrading, as described in “Upgrading an existing
version of the software” on page 31 and “Using SETUP.INI to customize
the installation” on page 32, and do not specify the GSECONFIGFILE
parameter, the configuration values used are a combination of the
configuration settings defined for the version of GroupShield being
upgraded and the GroupShield version 5.2 for Microsoft Exchange 2000
defaults. The previous version’s configuration values are preserved
where appropriate, and the version 5.2 defaults are used where there are
no equivalent existing values.
To create a configuration file, follow these steps:
NOTE: You can only create a configuration file if you already have at
least one GroupShield version 5.2 for Microsoft Exchange 2000
installation on your network .
1 In the GroupShield Exchange console, select the server from which you
want to copy the configuration.
2 Right-click the Configuration node of that server and select Copy
Configuration from the menu. The Configuration Copier appears.
3 Click Save to open Choose save location.
4 Specify the path and name of the file to contain the configuration
information and click Save to return to the Configuration Copier.
NOTE: This file is saved in binary format and cannot be edited. Its file
extension is .GSE.
