HELD BY THE CUSTODIAN OF ENEMY PROPERTY<br />

IN INDIA ON BEHALF OF PERSONS RESIDENT IN<br />

I have the honour to inform Your Excellency that the Government of India<br />

are <strong>des</strong>irous of expediting the release of monies and other properties held by the<br />

Custodian of Enemy Property on behalf of persons resident in Greece and, after<br />

careful consideration of the matter, the Government of India feel that the<br />

settlement of claims by such persons would be greatly facilitated if the Government<br />

of Greece could see their way to accept reponsibility for restoring monies<br />

and other properties released by the Custodian to the rightful owners in Greece.<br />

The following conditions are proposed by the Indian Government for the<br />

settlement of this matter:<br />

1. In this letter "person" means a natural person; " institution<br />

inclu<strong>des</strong> any partnership, company, (limited or unlimited) or other body of<br />

persons, any department of Government and any local or other authority established<br />

or recognised by or under any law for the time being in force.<br />

2. The Custodian of Enemy Property of India (hereinafter called the Custodian)<br />

shall furnish the representatives of the Government of Greece with full<br />

particulars in regard to all monies deposited with him on behalf of persons in<br />
