(b) that the insured person concerned has been insured for at least five years in
respect of employment as a Rhine boatman, in the case of other pensions.
2. The preceding paragraph shall apply only if claims are presented
within one year after the date on which this Agreement comes into force.
3. In applying this Agreement, account shall be taken of insurance periods
or equivalent periods prior to its coming into force if account would have been
taken of such periods if this Agreement had been in force during such periods.
4. Supplementary agreements should fix the conditions and methods
according to which previously awarded rights and the rights arising from paragraph
1 of this Article will be reviewed in order to make their award conform
to the provisions of this Agreement. The rights which have been settled by a
lump-sum payment do not have to be reviewed.
Article 30
1. The denunciation of this Agreement shall not affect the liabilities of
the social security institutions in respect of contingencies occurring before the
denunciation took effect.
2. Rights in course of acquisition in respect of insurance periods prior
to the date at which denunciation takes effect shall not lapse by reason of the
denunciation; a supplementary agreement (or, in default thereof, the laws and
regulations applying to the institution concerned) should determine the manner
in which such rights are to be maintained for the subsequent period.
Article 31
This Agreement shall be open for signature on behalf of the countries
represented on the Central Commission for Rhine Navigation and shall be
subject to ratification.
Article 32
Each instrument of ratification of this Agreement shall be deposited with
the Director-General of the International Labour Office who shall register it
and who shall notify the countries mentioned in Article 31 of its reception.
Article 33
This Agreement shall come into force on the first day of the third month
following that during which the last instrument of ratification shall have been
deposited by the contracting countries riparian to the Rhine and by Belgium.
