"The Government of Portugal declares, in accordance with article 3, paragraph 2, of
the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvment of
Children in Armed Conflict that the minimum age for any recruitment - including voluntary
- of persons into its national armed forces is 18 years. This age limit is already contained in
the Portuguese domestic legisation."

Le Gouvernement portugais declare, conformment au paragraphe 2 de larticle 3 du
Protocole facultatif A la Convention relative aux droits de l'enfant, concernant l'implication
d'enfants dans les conflits arm6s, que l'Age minimum d'engagement - y compris A titre volontaire
- dans ses forces arm6es nationales est de 18 ans. Cette prescription figure d'ores et
d6jA dans la 16gislation nationale portugaise.
