24 Hours urine collection (2 days)

Your doctor has asked that you collect your urine for two (2) days. You have been given two containers in which to conserve your
urine. Please identify the containers as # 1 and # 2 which correspond to day 1 and day 2. The order in which you use them is not
important, even if one of them contains a preservative.
HOW TO PROCEED:
• At a given time urinate in the toilet. The collection begins once you have emptied your bladder. Then
write # 1 on one container, the date and the time. This is the beginning of the collection.

• After this every time you urinate, you empty the urine into container # 1 for a period of exactly 24 hours.
• Twenty-four (24) hours after you start the collection, you must urinate and put the urine from this last urination in container
# 1.
• Your urine collection for day 1 is now finished. Write the date and the time that your collection ended on container #1.

• Please keep this container in the refrigerator.

• Day # 2 begins at the same time and date that your collection of day# 1 ended. Therefore write the same date and time on
container # 2 for the start of the collection that you wrote on container #1 as the end of the collection.

• Then, every time you urinate, empty the urine into container # 2 for a period of exactly 24 hours.
• Twenty-four (24) hours after the start of the collection, you must urinate and put the urine from this last urination in
container # 2.

• The morning after the end of your two collections, take or have someone take the containers to the Centre de prélèvements at
the CHUS Fleurimont or Hôtel-Dieu.
• The containers can be kept in the refrigerator for 1 to 3 days. Do not freeze.
