COLLECT OF STOOLS FOR
DOSAGE OF GREASE FAT IN STOOLS
For the dosage of grease fat in stools, a collect of 72 hours is required. A normal diet is adequate to obtain
the best results, however, we suggest that the diet contains at least 75g of fat per day, during the 3 days
preceeding the collect and the 3 days of the collect.
Collect :

• You have received a large jar containing Methanol to contain the stool. The quantity of Methanol
has been measured so be careful not to loose any during the collect.
• This jar must be well identify to your complete name and birth date.
• At a chosen time, begin the collect and write the date and the time of that moment on the jar :
Stating:_________ at ________. Place the stools obtained in the jar.

• All the other stools will be placed in that same jar during 3 consecutives days (72 hours).
• Write the date and the time at the end: _________ at ________.

• It is important to complete the collect but take note if there has been a lost of stools.
• Do not keep the stools on the toilet paper.
• The jar can be kept at room temperature and must be taken to the Sampling Department (Centre
de prélèvement) CHUS-Fleurimont or Hôtel-Dieu.
