Étude caryologique et morphométrique
du Mulot sylvestre (Apodemus sylvaticus :
Muridae) au nord de la Tunisie
Karyological and morphometric study of the Wood mouse
(Apodemus sylvaticus: Muridae) from the North of Tunisia
corporels considérés sont : T + C ; Q ; PP ;
O ; Pds (Chappelier 1927) ainsi que les paramètres
crâniens : LT ; lBC ; D ; MS ; CB (Chimimba
et Dippenaar 1995), nous révèle que nos
mesures s’intègrent parfaitement dans les
limites établies par d’autres auteurs en Tunisie.
On a cependant relevé certaines différences
avec d’autres populations étudiées en Europe
(France, Turquie), en effet nos spécimens apparaissent
plus grands. Ces différences sont probablement
dues à la nature du régime alimentaire
et au climat.
specimens captured in Lansarine, a région from
show us that the diploid number of the current
population is stable in comparison with the
European populations (Spain, Czech Republic),
it is equal to 48 chromosomes with a funda-
mental number of autosomes equal to 46. The
morphometric analysis, with body (T + C; Q; O;
PP; Pds) (Chappelier 1927) and cranial parameters
(LT; lBC; D; MS; CB) (Chimimba & Dippenaar
integrate perfectly with the limits established
by other authors in Tunisia. However, we
find out some differences with other populations
studied in Europe (Turkey, France), indeed
our specimens looks bigger. Those differences
are probably due to climat and the nature of
diet.
Abridged english version
Among 4500 species of living mammals, the
rodents are the most represented order with
2000 species divided in 30 families (Wilson
& Reeder 1993). In Tunisia, we have 24
species of rodents, 18 of them belong to the
family of Muridae (Harrison 1967; Ranck
1968; Bernard 1970; Jordan et al. 1974;
Cockrum & Setzer 1976; Chibani & Chetoui
1982; Chetoui et al. 2002). In this work we
take our attention on one species, which is
Apodemus sylvaticus. This nocturnal rodent is
frequent in regions with soft and humid climate;
it has a diet composed of 80% grains
and vegetables. During our field investigation
we captured 7 male adults in Lansarine, a
région located in the North of Tunisia. For the
karyological study, we used the method of Air
