Article XII<br />

Either Contracting Party may at any time give notice to the other of its<br />

desire to terminate this Agreement. Such notice shall be simultaneously<br />

communicated to the International Civil Aviation Organization. If such notice<br />

is given, this Agreement shall terminate twelve months after the date of receipt<br />

of the notice by the other Contracting Party, unless it is withdrawn by agreement<br />

before the expiry of this period. In the absence of acknowledgement of receipt<br />

by the Contracting Party to whom the notice has been given, the notice shall<br />

be deemed to have been received fourteen days after its receipt by the International<br />

Civil Aviation Organization.<br />

Article XIII<br />

The airlines designated by one Contracting Party may omit points included<br />

in one of the routes provided for in the Annex, with the exception of those<br />

situated in the territory of the other Party; they are, however, bound to notify<br />

it without delay to the aeronautical authorities of the said Party, unless such<br />

cases be only single ones.<br />

Article XIV<br />

The present Agreement shall be provisionally put into force on the day<br />

it is signed and shall enter into force definitively as soon as the formalities<br />

provided for in the domestic legislation of each Contracting Party are complied<br />

with.<br />

IN WITNESS THEREOF the undersigned plenipotentiaries, duly authorised<br />

thereto by their respective Governments, have signed the present Agreement.<br />

DONE at Lisbon, in duplicate, this fifth day of April nineteen hundred and<br />

fifty, in the Portuguese and Italian languages, both texts being equally authentic.<br />
