Catherine de Clerck raconte avec modestie
qu’elle a été nommée au Conseil
d’Administration parce qu’elle a la tête de
l’emploi : « Un besoin s’est fait sentir au
Conseil, le besoin de quelqu’un qui ait mon
profil, souligne-t-elle. Le conseil s’efforce de
représenter notre communauté scolaire dans son ensemble. Les gens
de la FASNY ont des parcours très différents, professionnellement et
culturellement. Le fait que je sois maman de jeunes enfants, et que
l’accent ait été particulièrement mis sur le campus de Scarsdale
depuis trois ans, fait que je suis en phase avec cette population de
l’école. Voilà le type de parent que je suis. »
Ses deux enfants, Bruno ’21 et Alexa ’23, seront scolarisés à
Scarsdale à la rentrée. Ce mois de septembre marque aussi sa
troisième année en tant que parent d’élèves à la FASNY : « Mon mari
est européen et je suis libanaise-américaine. J’ai déménagé aux
Etats-Unis très jeune. D’une certaine façon, je suis à l’image de
beaucoup de parents de l’école », explique Mme de Clerck.
Avec son CV FASNY de déléguée des parents, de membre du
Comité de Gala et du Conseil de FASNYPAT, Catherine n’est pas
étrangère au monde du bénévolat. Elle possède un B.A. de l’université
d’Atlanta et une expérience internationale dans le secteur de la
communication : « Pour moi, ce n’est qu’une façon différente de faire du
bénévolat. J’ai été ravie de suivre l’actualité, ravie d’aider FASNYPAT,
et toujours été heureuse d’aider quand le besoin s’en fait sentir ». n

Catherine de Clerck modestly says that
she fits a mold in regard to her new
position on the Board of Trustees.
“There was a need on the Board; they
needed someone with my profile.
They’re just trying to represent the
School community,” Catherine pointed
out. “At FASNY, people have so many
different backgrounds — both
professionally and culturally. The fact that I’m a parent of
younger children, coupled with the fact that a lot more
focus has been given to the Scarsdale campus in the past
three years, means that I’m in tune with that population
of the School. That’s the parent I am.”
Both of her children, Bruno ’21 and Alexa ’23, are at
the Scarsdale campus this fall and this September marks
her third year as a FASNY parent. “My husband is
European, and I’m Lebanese-American. I moved to the
States when I was young. In a way, we’re like a lot of other
parents at the School,” explained Catherine.
With her FASNY resume including Class Delegate,
Gala Committee, and the FASNYPAT Board, Catherine
is no stranger to volunteering. Additionally, her
professional qualifications include a B.A. from Emory
University in Atlanta and international experience in the
communication sector. “For me, it’s just another way to
volunteer. I was happy to get the news, but I was happy
helping FASNYPAT. I’ve always been a person who’s
happy to help where needed.” n
