Scientific relevance of the study: Evaluation of shiitake cultivation (Lentinula<br />
edodes) as a biotechnological process (biodegradation and biotransformation) for<br />
simultaneous detoxification of phenol-rich olive mill wastewater (OMW) and the production<br />
of fungal enzymes and mycelial biomass. Application of an environmentally friendly fungal<br />
technology in the food (olive oil) chain production, medical research (L. edodes biomass) and<br />
bioremediation purposes (detoxification of OMW).<br />
