Quinze kurdes tués dans le sud-est anatolien
ANKARA, 21 sept (AFP) - Quinze kurdes de Turquie ont été tués et quatre
autres arrêtés par les forces de l'ordre turques dans les provinces de Sirnak
(frontière avec l'Irak et la Syrie) et de Diyarbakir (sud-est), a-t-on annoncé
mardi de source officielle.
,Dix rebelles du Parti séparatiste des Travailleurs du Kurdistan (PKK) ont
été tués lundi lors d'opérations aéro-terrestres militaires dans la zone du
mont Cudi (Sirnak), indique un communiqué de ~a super-préfecture de
Diyarbakir, chargée de la coordination de la lutte contre le PKK.
Cinq autt"es "tet"rot"istes" (dénomination officielle des t"ebelles dl.tPKK)
ont été tués et 4 au~res arrêtés par les forces de sécurité lors
d'affrontements dans la région de Idil (Sirnak) et près de Lice, province de
Diyarbakir, chef-lieu du sud-est anatolien à Majorité kurde, selon le
cO_Jluniqué.
Par ailleurs, toujours en l'absence d'un bilan officiel, les Médias turcs
font état d'une centaine de militants du PKK tués lors d'opérations terrestres
et aériennes déclenchées il y a une dizaine de jours contre les maquisards
kurdes réfugiés sur le Mont Ararat et la montagne Tendurek, dans l'est de la
Turquie près de la frontière avec l'Arménie et l'Iran.

ANKARA- Turkey's Human Rights Association
(!HO) is concerned for Turkey's future,
having spotted a serio,us decline In human
rights .and freedoms and a continuation of
"extrajudicial" killings and torture, a senior
executive of the assocIation said on Monday.
!HD Chairman Akm Birdal, who issued a
press stateme~t after a meeting of the association's
executive board, accused Turkey of covering up controversial
murders and attacks.
He said Turkey had not only hampered the investigation of
the murder of Democracy Party (DEP) Deputy Mehmet Sincar,
who was gunned down in Batman on Sep~. 4, ~ut also
covered up the bomb attack that took place o~ SI~ca!s ho~se
in Mardin when there were other DEP deputies insIde. Five
people were wounded in the alleged attack,.and witnesses
claimed troop protection was with.drawnfrom around the house

are being made for human rights and justice. The
rights and freedoms that come from accepted International
agreements are not reflected in the domestic judicial
system."
Birdal also pointed out that various cases had been brought
to close down human rights associations and that the threats
directed at associ,ation executives were continuing, "Despite
. all of these negatlve developments," he said. "state administrators
are appearing on television as if nothing is happening
and at the same time...dreaming of full membership in the
EC(European Community). Turkey is truly distancing itself
from human rights and justice."
Birdal noted that the executives of his assJCiation were seriously
concerned over the recent developments and wanted
the publiç to k,nowthis.
