Delegation in Iraq to
coordinate aid to N.lraq

, ANKARA. A delegation headed by Turkish Foreign Min-
IStry Deputy Undersecretary Tugay Ulucevik has left for
Northern Iraq to organize Turkish aId to the region.
Turkey is expected to provide aid worth $13.5 million to
the various populations living in Northern Iraq, including
Kurds and the Turkomans, Turkish Foreign Ministry
spokesperson Ferhat Ataman said during the ministry's
weekly ~ress briefing Wednesday.
The aId will be provided from Turkey's own resources,
Turkish aid to ,the regio,n is to consist of pharmaceuticals,
foodstuffs, samtary eqUIpment, and educational materials,
Ataman sai,d. The delegation, whic~ a~v~d in the re~ion
Monday, wIll plan the storage and dlstnbul10n of the aId in
towns such as Dohuk, Erbil and Süleymaniye; these plans
must be complete before the aid can leave for the region.
The delegation returns to Ankara Sept. 11.
Ataman meanwhile denied press reports that Turkey had
made a formal application to the United'Nations for the lifting
of the U.N. oil embargo imposed on Iraq.
While voicing strong commitment to all U.N. resolu.
tions, Turkey last week announced that steps needed to be
taken to compensate Turkey for the losses it has incurred
from the oil embargo on Iraq.

NEW YORK (ONU), 9 sept (AFP) - Les Etats-Unis, la Grande-Bretagne, la
France et la Russie ont fait mercredi une démarche commune aupr~s de l'Irak à
pt~Opos de la "dégradation" de la situation humanitaire dans le nord et le sud
du pays, indique-t-on de sources diplomatiques occidentales.
Les représentants à l'ONU de ces quatre pays ont exprimé leur
"préoccupat ion" à 1eut~ homo 1ague it~akien, M. Ni zar Halldoun, lors d'une réun ion
organisée à leur demande au si~ge des Nations Unies à New York, ont ajouté les
