A Dogubayazit, l'omertà kur<strong>de</strong> s'est refermée sur les otages Le Département fédéral <strong>de</strong>s affaires étrangères (DFAE) n'avait pas reçu hier <strong>de</strong> nouvelle information sur les touristes suisses enlevés par les rebelles kur<strong>de</strong>s. Il poursuivait néanmoins, à Berne comme à Ankara, ses efforts <strong>et</strong> a lancé un nouvel appel aux ravisseurs. Ceux-ci sont traités en 4

L'homme, hirsute, pas rasé, est allé chercher une charr<strong>et</strong>te tirée . par un âne pour emmener le <strong>de</strong>rnier meuble du bureau. A quoi bon informer, désormais? De touristes, il n'yen a plus à Dogubayazit. Au mur reste collé un plan délavé <strong>de</strong>s promena<strong>de</strong>s pro. posées dans la montagne <strong>et</strong>, sur la porte vitrée, une page arrachée dans l'édition française d'une feuille imprimée à Ankara, Newspot: «L'arche <strong>de</strong>' Noé se trouve-t-elle sur le mont Ararat?», <strong>de</strong>man<strong>de</strong> un long article illustré d'un plan <strong>et</strong> d'un croquis. Anna <strong>et</strong> Nico Pian ta, Giuseppe Rezzonico <strong>et</strong> Angelo Palego, leur ami italien, en étaient convaincus puisqu'ils étaient partis à la recherche du biblique bateau, guidés par les travaux <strong>de</strong> Palego <strong>et</strong> la foi <strong>de</strong> leur secte quand le PKK les a enlevés près <strong>de</strong> la ville il y a dix jours. Où sont-ils maintenant? Là-bas, au Nord, oil le mont Ararat dresse son énorme cône enneigé, <strong>et</strong> où la guérilla kur<strong>de</strong> cherche <strong>de</strong>puis peu à développer son action? Plus probablement au sud, où <strong>de</strong>s montagnes plus basses vallonne nt vers la frontière iranienne, toute proche, qui fait là un cou<strong>de</strong> dans la continuité du territoire turc, comme pour offrir aux ravisseurs <strong>et</strong> à leurs otages, en cas <strong>de</strong> besoin <strong>et</strong> d'offensive <strong>de</strong>s forces d'Ankara, un abri plus sûr. A Dogubayazit en tout cas, toutes traces du passage d'es Tessinois <strong>et</strong> <strong>de</strong> l'Italien semblent s'être effacées, comme <strong>de</strong>s ronds. dans l'eau. A l'Hôtel Isfahan, qui se présente comme le ren<strong>de</strong>zvous <strong>de</strong>s expéditions vers l'Ararat, <strong>et</strong> où doivent <strong>de</strong>scendre la plupart <strong>de</strong>s étrangers, le Kur<strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong> la réception refuse d'ouvrir le livre <strong>de</strong>s passages <strong>et</strong> montre par son ton revêche <strong>et</strong> son regard fuyant qu'il ne souhaite pas. un ~change plus long. La police elle-même, participant à c<strong>et</strong>te sorte d'omerta kur<strong>de</strong>, n'a rien à dire, se réfugie <strong>de</strong>rrière <strong>de</strong>s difficultés <strong>de</strong> traduction. Mais il faut dire que, pour le journaliste en situation pas très régulière, il n'est pas recommandé <strong>de</strong> poser dans ces parages trop <strong>de</strong> questions trop insistantes à <strong>de</strong>s hommes en casqu<strong>et</strong>te ... Pour aller à Dogubayazit quand on vient <strong>de</strong> Van, il faut prendre une route qui frôle - là où la frontière fait un cou<strong>de</strong>, justement - le territoire iranien. La région est peu sûre. Ankara affirme que le PKK a <strong>de</strong>s bases juste <strong>de</strong>rrière la frontière (ce que Téhéran, comme toujours, dément). «N'y allez pas!», disaient à Van les amis <strong>de</strong> la guérilla, affirmantqu'il ne fallait pas tant craindre les militants, mais l'armée qui tue <strong>et</strong> rej<strong>et</strong>te ensuite la responsabilité sur le mouvement kur<strong>de</strong>. En fait, la route est presque bonne. Les soldats <strong>de</strong>s patrouilles motorisées sont si peu inqui<strong>et</strong>s, ce samedi, qu'ils roulent sans casquè <strong>et</strong> les contrôles sont bon enfant. Les sympathisants du PKK, immergés dans <strong>de</strong>s propagan<strong>de</strong>s permanentes; finissent par croire à leurs propres exagérations, <strong>et</strong>. à leurs mensonges. «Le régime <strong>de</strong> ce pays nIest pas démocratique, dit-il . en écarquillant les yeux <strong>et</strong> en baissant la voix.
