COMPETENT AUTHORITIES
A. Competent authorities of the EC Party
Monitoring is shared between the national services of the Member States and
the Commission of the European Communities. In this respect the following
applies:
– as regards exports to signatory Central African States, the Member
States of the European Community shall be responsible for the
monitoring of production conditions and requirements, including
statutory inspections and the issuing of health (or animal welfare)
certificates confirming compliance with the agreed standards and
requirements;
– as regards imports from signatory Central African States, the Member
States of the European Community shall be responsible for monitoring
the imports' compliance with the EC Party's import conditions;
– the Commission of the European Communities shall be responsible for
overall coordination, inspections/audits of inspection systems and the
necessary legislative action to ensure the uniform application of
standards and requirements within the Single European Market.
B. Competent authorities of the signatory Central African States
This authority shall be vested in the signatory Central African States for
imports and exports to and from their respective territories.
