Sweden in the early nineties. A serial killer terrorises Stockholm.
He has already murdered one man and heavily wounded nine others,
using a gun with a laser view finder. All of the victims have one
thing in common, a foreign background. Growing up in Sweden
in the fifties, the killer, who became known as ‘The Laser Man,’
suffered a traumatic childhood and was bullied for his dark hair
and strange look. But who is he? Bengt Ohlsson’s play questions
how much one can actually know about a man and his actions. It
also deals with the temptation to create easy solutions for complex
problems. This play is a reflection of contemporary Sweden.
La Suède au début des années quatre-vingt-dix. Un tueur en
série terrorise Stockholm : il assassine un homme et en blesse
gravement neuf autres en utilisant un fusil muni d’une lunette de
visée laser. Toutes les victimes sont d’origine étrangère. L’homme
qu’on a rapidement appelé « L’homme au laser » a eu une enfance
déprimante pendant laquelle il a été incessamment humilié et
rejeté en raison de ses cheveux foncés et de son étrange apparence.
Mais qui est-il ? La pièce de Bangt Ohlsons pose les questions
de ce qu’on peut savoir sur un homme et ses actions ainsi que
sur la tentation de trouver des solutions faciles à des problèmes
complexes. C’est une pièce qui fait directement référence à la Suède
actuelle.
