He is certainly not alone in this. But in spite of its deceptive glossiness and its modern, ‘music video’ energy, Klimácek’s dynamic play reveals an ironic core. The sensitive testimonies about the relationships and destinies of the five main characters clearly belong to the present day. In your friendly local supermarket where a former spy pursues thieves, a shop assistant and a prostitute become film stars and a once successful company director now finds himself a down-and-out, a mother, whose daughter dubs soap operas, struggles against the cancer of this world with poetry. Viliam Klimácek est depuis longtemps fasciné par les hypermarchés et leur « sex-appeal » consumériste. Il n’est sans doute pas le seul. En dépit de toute attractivité extérieure, la pièce dynamique et ouverte de Klimácek qui est chargée des énergies contemporaines des clips vidéo est rachetée par une ironie profonde, loin de toute gratuité. Le témoignage sensible sur les relations et les destins des cinq personnages principaux appartient clairement au temps présent. Dans notre hypermarché du coin où un ancien agent de la police secrète poursuit des voleurs potentiels, où un assistant commercial et une prostituée deviennent des star de cinéma, où un patron qui a réussi finit comme père mendiant, une mère lutte contre le cancer du monde avec poésie et sa fille fait de la postsynchronisation de soap-operas sur nos rêves inconfortables.

Thanks to the commercial flair of his father and a successful exhibition, Oskar wins it all – he attains celebrity status, gains respect, women, and financial security. But at the same time he loses inspiration and any desire to paint ever again. This is a Faustian parable, in which art itself is a protagonist that sells its soul to commercialism in a desire to step out of anonymity and change the world. But the world devours the art and spits out a pale, meaningless logo. A glimpse of the world and art on the edge of their own deaths. Voilà l’histoire de la carrière éclair du peintre Oskar Št’astný (Oscar l’Heureux) dont la vie et l’œuvre, entre les mains habiles de ses parents, sortent directement de « l’underground » pour se trouver sous les feux des projecteurs. Grâce au talent commercial de son père et une unique exposition dans une galerie, Oscar gagne sur tous les terrains – il devient le numéro 1 en célébrité, obtient respect, femmes et sécurité financière. Mais en même temps, il perd l’inspiration et le désir de peindre. Dans cette parabole faustienne, c’est moins un individu qui est le protagoniste que l’art même qui vend son âme à l’industrie commerciale, par désir de quitter l’anonymat et par ambition de changer le monde.
